Heres a breakdown of the new packages -
BT BTSport Lite - (downgrading to BTS1 only) - free, with no new contract required.
BTS1, BTS2, ESPN and BT Sport Europe - £5 for all BT BB and app users. Free for all users on BT TV.
Virgin Media - Unkown. They are currently in negotiations for the new channel.
Sky - BT BB users who view via Sky - £5.
Sky - Direct subscribers with no BT BB - Unknown, as its not yet been announced.
If anyone isn't happy about the above changes, or feels it no longer represents value for money, they have the right to cancel without penalty.
Hope that helps (a bit).0 -
In MyBT account, it tells me that I need to renew my contract. If I do I will get the full Sports Package for £5. If I do not renew I will have to pay an extra £6.75. So I am assuming that the direct charge for a (Sky) BT customer, not in fixed term contract, will be £11.750

Thanks, but I pay 10 all in for BT Infinity unlimited and already pre-paid my line rental in December.
If SSE can beat that, I'd be tempted mind you!
I suspect that everyone is going to be paying for this unwanted Sport indirectly through line-rental increases. The amount of money going into football seems absolutely crazy!
Hi if you've prepaid your line rental then i would do as you are doing stick with what you got. This one of the things i HATE about BT they seem to put you on contracts that DO NOT run concurrently so your in contract with your line at a different time to the contract with the Broadband .
SSE have £12.50 for 80mb broadband speed (which is the Infinity 2 package the higher speed) . and £12 line rental.
Thats of use to me personally as i have 4 heavy users on my line (i actually get about 76MB so we get about 19mb each) if there are low users or you live by yourself 38mb is absolutely fine and i don't think you will notice any difference going up to the higher speed. It will also depend on the speed of your computer etc etc.

Following up on my first post on page 1. I logged my official complaint via BT and got a call back within a couple of days. This representative said the same as the others that I have spoken to but I stressed that I was treating this as mis-selling because their agent had not said anything about increased charges when I took out my contract a few days earlier. The complaint handler said that he would review "the tape" and get back to me Monday (yesterday), unsurprisingly, I haven't heard anything!
Meanwhile I have logged into my BT account and they are offering me a free (£19 activation) BT TV starter pack to sit alongside my Sky box which includes all of the Sports channels for free (what left hand?).
I shall continue with my complaint and has been said elsewhere, go to Ombudsman if necessary but as a fall back will also explore the BT TV starter pack,0 -
I am not a BT customer, but the other day I did explore the website for information about BT Sport.
I arrived at pages which invite people to have BT Sport for free on BT TV.
The cheapest bundle that this can be added to is described as £0 per month.
"BT TV is the best way to watch the BT Sport Pack with access to our new BT Sport Europe channel and up to 25 Premium TV channels. BT TV starts from as little as £0/mth."
!"Pick a package and add BT Sport for!FREE"
"How to!to watch
With BT TV it's FREE
BT TV is the best way to watch BT Sport Pack.!
TV packages start from just £0/mth."
https://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/tv-packages
I'm now a bit confused. Is BT Sport Pack or BT TV more expensive from now on? If it's still described as free or from £0 per month is it added to something else which will be going up in price?0 -
I am in contract until June 2016 for BT TV .
Cost last year was £35 Activation fee Free You View Non recordable box . Monthly charge non HD £0.00 18 month contract .
Looks to be the same today via BT if i renew the 18 month BT TV contract according to BT chat and they confirmed even though i am in contract for BT TV the charges will apply from 1st August unless i re contract .
My guess is the the new free BT Sport channel 1 will have little content as opposed to its current content .0 -
I know it is hardly something I can take to court but the operator on the Live Chat option on BT.com assures me that if you are within your term of contract with BT TV and Broadband then you will not receive the £5 charge. I have a screenshot to prove this, but I'm not holding my breath. Other options to be explored....0

Live Chat just said i will pay from 1st August 2015 even though i have at least 6 months left on the contract .0

The more people that follow DanceKing's advice in post 31 (on page 2) the better
In your case, they're causing resentment for the sake of £30, others a maximum of £600 -
When I signed up to BT at the start of this year, I got BT Sports shoehorned in with my broadband only deal. I could not find a way of not having BT Sport, but as it was "free" I had no real problem with it.
I just got a email from BT saying that they are adding a new channel called "BT Sport Europe" to the sport package, and by not downgrading manually, I will be charged an extra £5 a month starting August 2015. If you have BT TV, it is free.
It makes sense to me why BT forced the sport channels on customers now.0
