  • Right, first thanks to all on here for the useful info especially marleyboy, lifesgrand plan, danceking and roofusdoofus (for post 132 which i hit them with:D).

Got a call back a while ago from complaints in subcontinent and she said i can give you sport for free if you re-contract. Not a chance says i my complaint to Libby and pals still going in so she put me in a conference call with 'complaints' in UK (how many are there??). Result of this conversation is they are refunding me all my charges for sport and will not charge me for remainder of contract should i decide to stay with them, which seems unlikely. Also got this beauty on email because i really pushed for it-

    'Dear Mr x

Further to our conversation I would like to confirm that Mr x you are allowed to cancel your account with no held to term charges at any point during your contract bearing in mind all the upset this has caused you in regards to your INFINITY speeds

Again my sincere apologies to you'

Now they've asked me what i want regarding compo with regards to this and other problems. They are calling back Monday. So glad i decided to ditch phoning them and getting emails of online chats.

    thanks again.
  • I am concerned that there may be many BT subscribers who are being charged £5 every month for the new BT Sport Europe channel without realising that a) they are being charged each month and b) that this is an 'opt out' service. How many pensioners , for example, understand the BT mail re the charge or check their on line bill every month!!!! I am concerned that there could be thousands.

To make it worse I have called three times to BT and advised them to cancel my £5 charge and called to confirm AND have just realised that BT didn't cancel the charge at all. FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG on all levels.
Martin - can you put this message on your site to try to limit the number of people who are being 'ripped off' by BT?
  • I think its disgusting. I never agreed to the cost- I have never watched it- just got it becuase it was free. They also didn't communicate that they were changing the price.

    Surely that can't be legal?

Maybe the pigeon's still looking for my house!!
  • Received a letter from BT saying that as I am out of contract, BT Sport is raising from £5 to £6.50. Phoned them up and told them that I wanted to stop it and was looking to move my broadband elsewhere. They knocked £20 off my monthly BT bill which now includes BT Sport for £2.50. It was too easy.
  • I am a BT infinity broadband customer and upon checking a recent bill I have noticed a £5 per month charge for BT Sport. This is something I have never asked for and certainly never use. I called BT and they said they sent an e-mail out to all broadband customers in July 2015 for people to opt-out of BT sport which was previously a free service. As with many people I do not check all e-mails from BT or many other companies as I think they are just spam! I contacted BT who have now cancelled BT Sport and as a goodwill gesture refunded 50% of the charges.

Everyone who had BT broadband please check your bill carefully to see if you are being charged for BT sport and this is something you do not want.

I think it is totally unethical of BT to send loyal customers (I have had broadband with BT since dial up first started) to tell then if you don't reply to this e-mail we will start charging you for an addition service!

I am now looking at switching to Sky for telephone and broadband,

My BT Sport is still free. I haven't been charged for it, presumably as I'm still under contract until next month.
  • I have just noticed on my recent bill that I have been being charged for BT sport since 1st August. I obviously missed the e-mail. I think it is appalling that this was an opt-out rather than an our-in. I wonder how many tens of thousands of people who like e don't check bills thoroughly are being charged for BT Sport without knowing. I spoke to BT and they have cancelled it without the 30 days notice period and have refunded half of the many I have paid. Will now look into swiping to Sky as I am furious with BT.
