I 'thought' that i too was exempt from this charge as i'm both an existing tv/broadband and also still within my 18 month minimum contract??
I haven't been charged the extra £5 a month for BT Sport either as I'm still in contract.0 -

excellent. you have your proof now.0 -
excellent. you have your proof now.
I only wish i thought the same my friend!! My actual beef with them is that i, to this date, have not received any communication about the £5 increase. I had reluctantly accepted the increase even though i am an exisiting BT TV/Broadband customer within minimum contract. I read the first 200 posts on this thread and to be honest i still don't know where i'm at. Here's another diamond from a couple of days ago....first the guy says we sent you an email, then he says if you didn't receive that we sent you a letter and finally he finishes off by saying we gave you £5 compensation for not advising you!! My responses were incorrect, incorrect and finally incorrect!:D
x: you have being so helpful so far Tejavathi. thank you. may i ask one question??
[03:02:45 PM] Tejavathi Jayaram: Yes sure
[03:04:39 PM] x : i have looked at all my emails and i believe i received communication from BT about every price increase apart from one. I believe that I WAS N0T informed about the £5 charge for BT SPORT. can you please advise when i was informed of this increase??
[03:05:52 PM] Tejavathi Jayaram: It was increased in August 1st, we sent an email between july 24th to August 1st about the price change
[03:08:19 PM] x : i received no such email Tejavathi. I have all my emails from BT from before and after these dates but i do not have that email. I have also checked my junk email folder. I did not receive that email??
[03:09:01 PM] Tejavathi Jayaram: if not email, you should have received letter x
[03:10:08 PM] x : i have received nothing Tejavathi and i am not sure what to do as i do not believe i was advised of this extra charge??
[03:11:34 PM] Tejavathi Jayaram: I understand you did not receive the notification hence we have refunded one month rental charge to you in 15 Sep 2015 bill as a compensation
[03:11:43 PM] x : i received an email on 27th july about increase to line rental but there is nothing else??
[03:12:58 PM] x : i spoke to someone at the time and the £5 was a goodwill gesture. IT WAS NOT compensation.
[03:14:18 PM] Tejavathi Jayaram: I can see you have contacted us on 1/9/2015 about the price change of BT Sports and as we did not inform you we have refunded the one month rental charge to you £5.00 in 15 Sep 2015 bill as a compensation
[03:16:27 PM] x : that is not how the call went Tejavathi. i asked the girl the same question as you.....when was i advised about the £5 increase?? she could not answer me that question. she gave me a £5 goodwill gesture but IT WAS NOT COPENSATION as she claimed that BT did advise me. I asked her when BT advised me and she could still not answer the question. I DID NOT ASK FOR COMPENSATION.
[03:18:43 PM] Tejavathi Jayaram: We have sent an emails to all the customers, may be due to some error it was not delivered to you or it was not sent out by bT
[03:19:41 PM] x : she told me BT did asvise me but she could not say when. she claimed there was no fault with BT and £5 WAS A GOODWILL GESTURE. are you saying the £5 was compensation for NOT being told about the £5 increase
[03:20:41 PM] x : what is your advice about what i can do about this Tejavathi??
[03:21:10 PM] x : i am more than happy if BT listen to the call and you will see i ma telling the truth.
[03:21:23 PM] Tejavathi Jayaram: I apologise for not informing you a about the price change x
[03:24:04 PM] x : ok. thank you so much for your kind help Tejavathi. i a sorry it took so long. is there any way i can get a copy of this chat??
[03:24:46 PM] Tejavathi Jayaram: yes i will send you an transcript of this chat to your email id0 -
RoofusDoofus wrote: »What does BT say?
John Petter, chief executive of BT consumer, says: "When we launched BT Sport we promised to make televised football far more accessible and affordable than it has been to date. We have opened the market to millions of new customers and we want to build on that as BT Sport becomes the undisputed home of European football.
"We are of course giving our best offer to existing customers – broadband customers will get the new BT Sport Pack for the heavily discounted price of £5 whilst customers who take broadband and TV from us will get it absolutely free."
So there you have it. Having signed my broadband contract renewal on the promise of free sport I am hit with a £5 hike to pay for the football I neither want or watch. My sport is rugby, which they are planning on spreading across on to the new channel. Surely if BT is committed to making BT the undisputed home of European football then make those people that want to watch it pay for it - put the new football content on the new channel and ringfence it there, along with its associated cost of financing it, leaving the existing sports content where it is and allowing me to enjoy the "Lite pack" at no additional cost, as per BT's contractual commitment. My friends who have BT sport for the UFC or motorbike coverage of course share this view
Having read the first 200 or so posts on this thread i deemed this as the most pertinent to me as an EXISTING TV/BROADBAND customer WITHIN mimimum contract. Has anyone got a link to the source of these quotes.
I may just include it alongside the 4 copies of chat i will be sending to the Chief Executive. His turn for a sore head.....or more likely one of his stooges.0 -

funny you should say that!
you're probably not far off no 1 poster in this thread and from what i've read off the first 200 posts or so you're the main reason why i'm so bloody confused. I hope you understood my posts more than i understood yours.0 -
