None of the above companies have breached, sensationalist, and are free to raise prices mid-term with the freedom to walk away. Guess you missed the other threads.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Prove it then.
Its a disgrace they've done it this way IMO, but prove it.0 -
A while back Paloma asked if anyone had successfully left BT without penalty. I delayed my answer as I was in discussion and had verbal agreement, but the deal and figures had not been completed.
SUCCESS using various arguments culled from this thread BT agreed to let me leave without penalty. It's taken about a month for things to shake out, but the final bill had a penalty payment for breach of contract, and a week later (before it was due to pay) a revised bill came through showing the penalty removed, and a credit balance.
I have switched to Plusnet, I know their prices have just hiked, but the annual price line rental was cheaper than BT, and now the other companies are all raising prices anyway. So far so good.
regards and best wishes to all - and thanks for the hints (eg para 57)

PLEASE BE WARNED
BT have just sent out emails to BT infinity users that the FREE sport package will now cost 5 pounds from the 1st August 2015! YES! and its now the 4th August.
if you don't want to pay for the service you can downgrade to the BT sport lite for Free.
But if you read the small print, you are signing up for a 12 month contract for BT sport 1 service which wll have virtually nothing on it.
If you decide to leave BT infinity at the end of your contract as I will do in 4 months time. BT will charge me 6.95 a month for an additional 8 months for this so called FREE BT sport lite service.
TOTAL CON, shouldn't be allowed an it will catch a lot of people out. You can't cancel on line, You can only cancel the sport package and stop paying the 5 pounds if you ring them and stay on hold for an INFINITY. took me 20 mins to speak to someone.0 -
This is very old news now with multiple post on the subject .
Pre 1st Aug you could have followed the advice in the threads and not have to pay or re contract .0 -
Thanks for this, but only got the email today from BT, stating the 5 pound rise. I couldn't find anywhere on site where it says if you downgrade to BT sport lite, you will have to sign a 12 month contract for it?
cheers0 -
Downgrading to Sport lite has caused lots of posts on this and other similar forums, many state they were able to downgrade to Sport lite without extending the minimum term, others seem to have got a credit on the account to cover the extra £5 to get the full Sport pack, so in effect no extra cost, if you don't want to pay the extra £5 It would be prudent to contact them0

My 18 month contract with BT expired on the 4th, I expected free sport until then.
I received the email, to which I replied - noreply email, so I went on chat, told to phone cancellations.
Phone cancellations, explained I didnt want to pay the £5, didnt want the lite version, didnt agree to enter any new contract, just wanted the Free Sport removed to avaoid any payment.
I received an email confirming my sports pack cancelled.
Today I received my bill & there are sports pack charges for the 1st to the 4th & from the 5th to the 16th. 65p after discount for 4 days, then £1.94 after discount until the 16th.
There is no one at BT to discuss this with, but it looks like they have billed me for the portion of the 30 days notice falling after the 1st Aug.
Despite the line 'you will have 30 days from the day you receive our written notification to call us and end your contract for BT Sport, on up to 30 days' notice to us. If you do so you will not be charged the higher price for BT Sport' under para 44 in the T&C's0
