I've just received the email. We want to make sure you get the best deal for you. So, if you want to change something, or even leave because of these price changes, and you're within your minimum contract period, you'll need to call us within 30 days of receiving this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early. You'll need to give us 30 days' notice to leave (or 14 days if you're switching provider), starting from the date you ask us. We won't charge you the increased price during that time.
Does this mean I can cancel my entire package (TV, broadband & phone)?
Edit: Followed the link in the email (that I managed to miss when I first read it), and it looks like it does.0 -
There was a time you felt confidently safe when signing up with such large companies.
Here, here, marleyboy!
I went back to BT after many years away and felt a bit nice deja vu going back to a "good" old British company, reliable, open an transparent. Was I disappointed! I had better not express my true feelings in writing.{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}

I've been a broadband customer since Feb and complained to Libby Barr via email. After a few exchanges, I've been offered the full BT Sports package, including viewing via Sky, free until July 2016 with no contract extension.0

My experience of this is:
I still have 15 months to run on BB/Phone package, with BT Sport App (I've not got BT TV).
I downgraded a few weeks back to Sport Lite, as I didn't want to pay £5 or get BT TV.
I raised a complaint using Resolver - my aim was to use the change in BT Sport T&Cs to get out of my main BB/Phone contract (knowing that the Sport contract was separate).
No response from BT to my initial Resolver complaint, so I used Resolver to escalate.
Got a call back that day from BT (UK call centre). The very polite BT caller offered me the full BT Sport package for free (well, they would charge me but reduce my BB cost by the same amount).
However, he also mentioned the BT price hike coming in September, and freely advised me that I could use BT's T&Cs clause 57 to get out of my BB/Phone contract penalty free.
So, I left things as they were (didn't take up the free BT Sport offer), and will look at moving provider when I get the email through about the price rises.0 -
Man this is confusing.
Firstly, i've not received an email from BT. i double and triple checked. Nothing there. But i happened to read an article about this and thought i better check to see if it affected me.
Went onto the web chat and they said yes, from august i'd be paying £5 more. Thanks BT...
I asked to be downgraded to the lite package, the web chat staff then phoned me so they could transfer me to a UK operator.
I explained how i didn't wish to pay the extra, he told me he could downgrade me and that i wouldn't have to pay any more. I asked if the 30 cancellation applied and if i'd have to pay for august as i'm phoning late. He said no charges will appear.
He then asked me to confirm i want to get the sports lite package. Instead of answering i asked if this was going to be completely free and didn't tie me into anything else, he said yes free & it didn't, and presumably took my question to mean "yes" because he then told me that it was all complete and i was on the lite package. ehh ok.
I've received an order email mentioning BT sports lite. But i can't find any terms and conditions anywhere. So who knows if he's renewed my contract or not.
I think i'll have to go onto the web chat again and ask.
sigh.
edit: webchat have confirmed my contract end date is still set to the same as it was before and that i won't have any additional charges.*Assuming you're in England or Wales.0 -

My son and hubby love the Moto GP, so my son asked me to set up BT sport, at £13.50 a month, and he would give me the money for it. He didn't mind paying it, coz they were sick of just seeing the highlights.
Well, only a couple months in and I received an email saying that it was going up to £19.99!! All because of that euro channel that neither of them will watch as they don't watch football.
Da***d BT! I felt sorry for my son as it's the only thing he has to enjoy. He's on minimum wage so can't afford to go out much. Anyway, he said that when the contract is up, I will cancel it, as he won't pay extra for a channel he won't be watching.
Then, I got an email saying the line rental is to go up a £1! I think BT are the greediest! So, we haven't got broadband so we worked it out, and finally decided to cancel our landline, and use our mobiles. But, when I rang today, I was told that we can't have BT sport without an active telephone line! What?? What has a tv channel got to do with our landline?!
She then though gave me a little bit of good news. She said we don't have to srart paying the extra £6.49 on the bt sport now untill our contract runs out. So at least that is something. We'll have to wait now, so when our contract's nearly up, we'll cancel, then cancel the landline.
