I have just signed up to BT Broadband and was wondering whether the issues on this thread apply also to new subscribers; The advice on the moneysavingexpert site (the football-on-tv#btsportterms page) is "If you take out a new BT broadband package between now and August, BT says you'll be asked to decide whether you want BT Sport Lite or the full BT Sport package when you do so." This seems inaccurate: in my contract it states: About your BT Sport Pack
With BT Sport on BT TV, you'll be able to watch:
BT Sport 1 on channel 408
BT Sport Europe (from 1 August 2015) on channel 409
BT Sport 2 on channel 410
I hope this covers the full package - it doesn't mention not getting the Champions' League.0 -
Do you have a link to the BT page with the offer you took up .

Yes, it was the second one down on the page you gave, plus BT TV.0

BTS Europe will be showing the Champions' League and Europa League. And the FA cup, European rugby and Moto GP. So yes you'll get it.0 -
Good, thanks. MSE should update what it says about new subscribers then0

I rang BT yesterday about this, I have phone/Broadband only, I got quite a lot of hard sell about taking BT TV so this debacle appears to be turning into a sales opportunity for BT.
I complained that I was induced to take BT Broadband on the basis of Sport and Hotspots being included, I actually rang to cancel last year as I had a cracking deal from Sky, I consider that sports was within the contract and it was not made clear to me in any way that it was a separate contract therefore it was misrepresentation.
No movement on the phone so I've sent the complaint via resolver.
BT are still trying to push customers to recontract as a result of this debacle, my contract expires in November and I was told initially that if I wanted to downgrade to BT Lite I would have to recontract now, although they backed down very quickly when I pointed out that this seemed unfair for a change they they have imposed unilaterally, I bet there are plenty of people falling for this.Piglet

Result. Just rang BT to cancel my BT Sport £5/month package (on 0800 800 150). A very pleasant lady listened to my moan and immediately offered to reduce my broadband package by £5/month to compensate, as well as making the two now run concurrently.0

Well, read through and followed, most of this thread.
Same boat 6 months left on contract. Infinity 2 with BT TV.
Raised complaint after no slack from Call centres.
Call back saying will provide full sports no cost and no change of contract. RESULT. asked for confirmation and soon after got a reply from BT vision call centre clarifying :
1. Drop to lite new 18 month contract
2. Full package £5 a month extra and 12 month contract.
3. BT sport with BT TV 18 month contract get sport but £35 activation charge
OR
Opt out of getting sport.
"these changes are applicable to every customer wishing to retain or take BT sport for the first time.
...
I hope this clears things up" NO NOT REALLY as that's just another compete load of rubbish0 -
I joined BT at the end of May as I was enticed by the free BT Sport that came with my broadband contract. I was therefore not too impressed when they sent through the price increase/contract extension ultimatum just one month into a 12-month deal.
After two conversations with BT they have agreed that the original bundle (which stated free BT Sport 1, 2 and ESPN for 12 months) was mis-sold and they have offered me BT Sport (inc. Europe) for free for the duration of my contract (10 months). Technically speaking this involved taking out a new 18 month BT Broadband/Sport contract, but I have written confirmation that there is a special dispensation against my account and I will be treated as an out-of-contract customer next May.
I would advise people to keep going at BT on this, as they are starting to back down if my experience and that of others on here is to be believed.0 -
I too have just had a phone call from Bt regarding a BT SPORT package that I didn't know we had. They stated that they will charge me from the 1st of August for it. I got the adviser to check to see if its been used and the resounding answer was ahh I see you haven't used it.
I told him it must have been added on at renewal in Jan this year and stated I wasn't paying for something we don't watch. (We don't watch Live tv of any sort) He explained if you have a youview box that records and your area is fast enough and have bb and phone and tv with then it will continue to be free until renewal. But if you have a non recording box or watch through the app then you will be charged.
I feel a bit miffed for the people that have renewed in the last few months only to be told its now not free unless you give us your money for another 18 months. Guess they will wait another few months then hike the bb price too to pay for the BT SPORT platform too. Also love the way they try and sell you a mobile contract, My answer to him was whats stopping you hiking the price of that too in a few months.
Forgot to add it was a uk call center that called my Landline and then my Mobile 2 hours later0
