Thats the question will BT let you cancel Broadband contract under this clause . They say its a separate contract even though many like myself took a broadband contract out for one reason only BT Sport free and presumed free for the duration of that contract .0

So I had the opportunity to escalate my case through Resolver today, and finally I received an email back basically telling me how to send them a complaint and how they deal with it.
I would say it appears they are trying to ignore complaints sent via Resolver, wonder why?
I sent them another reply via resolver asking them to answer the points raised in my original email.0 -

Same here, I also asked them to respond to my resolver address. They did say email after all, sick of talking to people on the phone.
Also had a response from the Ombudsman, they said that if I can get a final statement from BT before the 8 weeks are up then they will look to proceed their end.0 -
i've just been called back from BT
6 months ago i took out, fibre, phone, landline and tv inc extra channels, paying around £37 per month and it included BT sports.
i complained via resolver, i offered 3 outcomes i'd be happy with.
my original 12 month contract carries on until the 12 months is up unchanged, as we agreed at the start!
i'd renew for 18 months like they offered, but only if all of the 18 months were at my current deal, they originally offered 8 months at my discounted rate then 10 months at full price
we part company
they've rung up and offered 2 options,
renew for 18 months, 12 at the discounted rate, 6 at full
or, pay the £5 per month for my remaining 6 months, but they'll credit my account by £30, so my next bill will have £30 off. so that's what i've took, the same total cost as i originally signed up for.0 -
RESULT !!! I WON ...
BT today have agreed to CANCEL my remaining contract WITHOUT penalty and WITHOUT me paying the remaining Term off which is 6 months.
They also did agree to allow me to have the Sport channels all of them without additional cost for the next 6 months which is the remaining term of my contract.
They was going to do this by reducing my broadband by £2.50 for the 6 months remaining term and then charging me £2.50 for 6 months for BT sport.
I SAID NO! TOO LITTLE TOO LATE !!! Ive been a BT customer for over 18 years and have BT in my business and my properties which i own i am MOVING the lot.
This has been a PR DISASTER for BT .. How can they ram it down our throats free BT sport when you sign up for BT broadband then try to back track later on.
The guy try to say that i must appreciate they have to pay for champions league blah blah. I didn't let him finish .. I WENT stop ... NO a group of people probably about 10 in number OVER paid for sports channels and we your millions LOYAL customers are having to pick up the bill.
NEXT TO GO for me will be SKY. I AM NOT BEING HELD TO RANSOM BY THESE COMPANIES ANY LONGER.
SSE CONTRACT HERE i come and i will save myself £204 per year. They can keep their sport and let the rest of the people who want to pick up the slack.0 -
The whole point is that we as customers signed up as free BT Sport was available .
What BT should have done is say from xx day its chargeable on NEW contracts .Instead they apply charges to existing contracts some only a matter of weeks old .0 -

Couldn't agree more. Well said.
BT have managed to make a complete dogs breakfast of the whole thing. Interesting that no BT representative has appeared on this thread to defend the indefensible."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Well there have certainly been a BT stooge or two. Its great to see that despite the "sit back and do nothing" advice that has been peddled. people have ignored them and are now getting results.0 -

Because, as frustrating as it can be that the complaints regulations allow the providers up to 8 weeks to resolve complaints, that's the way it is, and therefore, those who pursue BT- vigorously if necessary- are much more likely to reach a resolution first.
There are more populist answers that can play to peoples' anger with BT or any other provider, but what's the point in them if they don't lead to the results people are looking for?0 -
Well, this is all rather confusing. I took at a contract in March/April for BT Infinity 2 (unlimited calls/BB) plus BT TV Entertainment (+HD) which included a Youview box (£35 activation fee) and free BT Sports. all in I pay £49.99 a month which seems rather high compared to what some people are paying. The contract is for 12mths.
I received the email back in June about the extra £5 per month but have only today finally got around to looking into my options. I've read the entire thread but so much conflicting advice.
Am I right to believe that I won't actually be charged the extra £5 a month as I have BT Youview box? Also, I can't find anywhere on MyBT to either downgrade to BT Sport lite or extend my contract (which I refuse to do!).
This is a screen shot of my current BT Sport package...0
