If you ring them up and threaten to cancel they often reduce the price to £13.50 for Sky users.

My son and hubby love the Moto GP, so my son asked me to set up BT sport, at £13.50 a month, and he would give me the money for it. He didn't mind paying it, coz they were sick of just seeing the highlights.

Well, only a couple months in and I received an email saying that it was going up to £19.99!! All because of that euro channel that neither of them will watch as they don't watch football.

Da***d BT! I felt sorry for my son as it's the only thing he has to enjoy. He's on minimum wage so can't afford to go out much. Anyway, he said that when the contract is up, I will cancel it, as he won't pay extra for a channel he won't be watching.

Then, I got an email saying the line rental is to go up a £1! I think BT are the greediest! So, we haven't got broadband so we worked it out, and finally decided to cancel our landline, and use our mobiles. But, when I rang today, I was told that we can't have BT sport without an active telephone line! What?? What has a tv channel got to do with our landline?!

She then though gave me a little bit of good news. She said we don't have to srart paying the extra £6.49 on the bt sport now untill our contract runs out. So at least that is something. We'll have to wait now, so when our contract's nearly up, we'll cancel, then cancel the landline.

I think you have been mis advised, you can get BT Sport via Sky TV platform without being a BT broadband or phone customer, you already know what it costs, as you are not a BT broadband customer but do have an active Sky viewing card.
I take it you have Sky TV and don't mind paying for it, Sky have bought the rights to popular TV shows , making it the case that if you want to watch them you have to get a Sky subscription and Sky TV prices go up all the time, it's no different with BT, they buy the rights to something, and give you the choice to pay and watch, or not pay and not watch,
I like Premier league football, but won't pay what Sky ask for Sky Sports so cannot watch it, simples really .
BT is a business just like Sky, and like Sky they can say, this is the price, it's up to the consumer if they are prepared to pay the asking price
BT broadband customers could have a legitimate gripe if they took broadband on the understanding that they would get BT Sport included with the broadband , not get a reduced Sport lite service part way through the contract, but as you only had the TV channels, on a month by month contract, if the price goes up and you are not prepared to pay the increased price, you cancel and move on...they haven't misled you, which is what the majority of this post is about

But there is absolutely NOTHING to stop them putting up the prices next week, and the week after that, and the week after that.

Theres NOTHING to stop ANY company doing that. They wouldn't have many customers left though.

I guess it depends if a company honours their T&C or not. So far, out of all the contracts I have signed, BT is the only one I know that are breaching them so blatantly.

BT are hoping people aren't aware of the terms they have signed up to, so much so that they are hoping people will avoid the clause57 route. Else BT WOULDN'T have any customers. :D

I never had a breach with VM albeit there were price rises, but I haven't read their T&C in a long time. I imagine they have a different clause, care to mention which clause they use?

There is nothing sensational about it, you can walk away from BT without a termination fee by using clause57, I know you would rather we stick with BT and merely negotiate with them for a price drop (for whatever reason) but it is there to protect the customers of BT - of which this thread is specifically about.

However do feel free to point out the breaches of the T&Cs these alternative companies are up to, along with the clauses they have to help get out of the contract if you think its relevant.

There is no need to quote clause 57. BT are openly offering everyone cancellation of contract with no termination fees.

None of the above companies have breached, sensationalist, and are free to raise prices mid-term with the freedom to walk away. Guess you missed the other threads.
