Haven't they already broken that promise? Are you not getting Sport Lite free rather than Sport1?
"BT Sport Lite" is the name for BT Sport 1 & BT Sport Extra 1.

The guarantee is that BT Sport 1 "will show all 38 live Barclays Premier League matches" and feature the Aviva Premiership and SPFL, although note it doesn't guarantee all of the latter.

BT Sport Extra 1 is a "red button" service that will carry additional content. I assume that it will be used as an "overspill" service if, for example, an SPFL fixture clashed with a Premier League fixture.

BT BB customer, watch BT Sport on Sky.

I renewed my BB contract, Infinity 2, for a further 12 months 3 weeks ago. Stupidly assuming that included BT Sport mean just that. Should have seen this coming, knowing BT as I do, however...

I haven't yet had the email about the £5 charge.

My current Sky deal runs out in October and I doubt that I'll continue with Sky when it's up.
Can someone who has the Ts & Cs about the £5 charge for BT Sport please tell me, if I watch BT Sport and pay the fee from 1st August till mid October when I let Sky go, will I be able to cancel BT Sport then or will I be contracted in to it ?
If I can cancel it, what's the notice period?
Asking this question now because if I can't cancel it after a couple of months I may as well just downgrade now to Lite, or cancel BT Sport completely.

I'm very annoyed with BT about this charge, but not surprised. They paid a huge amount for football and it had to be funded from somewhere.
    I'd also hazard a guess and say that this year's £5 will be next year's £9.99 .....

If you do nothing and pay the £5 a month will you be deemed to be in a new contract? I don't think anyone knows the answer to that question. I have the email and have looked at some Ts & Cs but the answers do not come jumping out at me.

The only thing it states for certain is that if you want to end your BT Sports contract now, as a result of these changes, you must do so before the end of July.

The only safe thing to do in your case (I would guess) is to downgrade to BT Sports Lite (providing that does not trigger a new contract) or end BT Sports altogether, now while you can. Otherwise things could get messy when your current contract ends and you want to leave.

BT record all converstations. I am waiting for BT to get back to me as when i renewed my BB in April/may i asked the question if i would still get all my bt sports channels free for the next 12 months - I was told yes.

I was told and then received a txt with a ref number and that i would also receive a reply in 10 working days. I have also lodge a complaint using the Resolver service.

Can someone point me to the Resolver service please? I've had a quick look round MSE but can't find it and am raging with BT at the moment over a different issue. Also waiting for them to listen to a call and get back to me.

Hi all. Joined the forum to share some advice:

As a BT Sport customer via Sky (I'm a triple play Sky customer who just needs BT Sport for watching UFC events), I just phoned the cancellations team to complain about the increase from 1st August from £13.50 per month to £19.99 per month to cover the cost of the new BT Sport Europe channel I'm not going to watch. I'm not sure the agents fully understand what is happening - I was first offered BT Sport Lite, which actually isn't possible as a Sport only customer and in any case doesn't suit my needs. Anyway, I was very quickly offered a £6.50 discount per month on a new 12-month contract. So my advice is to get on the phone if you are not a broadband customer, because this discount seems easy to come by.

i watch bt via my sky box

When we've got clashes - including when we're showing up to eight UEFA Champions League games a night - we'll show some of that great content on BT Sport Extra. To find it, just press the red button on your remote whenever the red button appears on the screen, then choose what you want to watch.
Watch on the move with the BT Sport app
You'll still be able to catch those big games and sporting highlights when you're out and about with the BT Sport app. Just go to the app store on your smartphone and search for BT Sport. (You'll need to use your BT ID to log in to the app. It's usually your contact email address.) You can also watch BT Sport online at btsport.com
You'll need to use the Sky viewing card below:
