I signed up for Line Rental Saver a few weeks after renewing my broadband for 12 months because of getting a reduced price with BT Sport. In my view, they should be linked and be able to leave penalty-free.

I wish MSE were pursuing this a lot more than they appear to be, given the number of customers and the significance of the change.

In any case, am going to ditch BT as soon as possible, and won't recommend them to anyone else again.

This is incorrect or unclear advise. I have BT BB and TV (standard, excluding entertainment) and I have to recontract for 18 months to not pay a fiver a month, or I pay a fiver a month. I spoke to 2 different BT customer service people who confirmed this and many people on this thread also have said the same thing. You have said in your post people in this position don't need to do anything, which is wrong based on my chats with BT, and will mislead people.

Where did you get your info for BT TV users you do nothing? Or do you mean it depends on the type of BT TV package you have?

This is from post #174 on page 9 -
According to the advisor I spoke to this morning it IS true (see my earlier post 10.01am this morning). I mistakenly tried to extend my contract following the online link but transaction didn't complete. The advisor said this was because I couldn't extend my current contract, and I would get continue to get BT Sport free (as I have BT TV) under my existing contract terms.

She also said the £5 charge was aimed at customers who don't currently have BT TV. I have made a note of the advisor's name and office in case of future problems!

Micky, send an email to the Chief Exec's office and they'll look into it for you.

Maybe it depends on how long is left on your contract? I only signed up for BT last month, contract and services began 11th June and when I spoke to them via online chat they said I'd receive the BT Sport back without extra payment for the duration of my 12 month contract.

    BTSport cancelled.

I am getting increasingly concerned about the number discussion and contracts that take place on the phone with no documentary evidence of what was said and no obvious written alternative. If it goes wrong denials immediately follow with do evidence to challenge them.

I have heard of problems with BT, insurers, HMRC etc etc.

Has the time come to buy a recorder and to keep the recording of the calls? I think that it probably has.

    Cancelled this morning.
Was offered Sport Lite but I pointed out that I just wanted to cancel and it was accepted. I can't trust they won't start charging for Sport Lite in 6 months!

I am not waiting 6 months for a lack of trust. I can't trust they won't start charging me for BTSport in August - or say that I took out a new contract etc etc etc.

    Time will tell.

I appreciate that some people are concerned by apparent inconsistencies with their existing deals etc.; however, the press release said:
Keeping its promise to make televised sport more accessible to more people, BT will give its broadband customers the option of receiving BT Sport 1 for free for a third season.

That's an unequivocal large-scale promise affecting all subscribers, that BT couldn't justifiably or quietly reverse, in my view.

Haven't they already broken that promise? Are you not getting Sport Lite free rather than Sport1?

I already have a call recorder app on my phone that records all my calls. Before someone says it, yes it is inadmissable in court but it wouldn't ever get that far if you have a recording to prove it to the company...

I highly recommend people who have agreed things on the phone either email and ask for a reply confirmation of what had been agreed or ask the same over chat.... Then keep that safe as evidence.

BT record all converstations. I am waiting for BT to get back to me as when i renewed my BB in April/may i asked the question if i would still get all my bt sports channels free for the next 12 months - I was told yes.

I was told and then received a txt with a ref number and that i would also receive a reply in 10 working days. I have also lodge a complaint using the Resolver service.
