Are you saying that there is no longer a difference between Retail and OEM installation media?
I don't know regarding Win 8/8.1, but there was with Win 7.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

The installation media is the same however the official licensing conditions are still different:
OEM - tied to machine.
Retail - Transferable between machines.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
disk cleanup (bottom right /all settings /storage/drive c / temp files) shows 1.7 g of files however using the old method of disk cleanup (inc system files) shows zero
the first method does not work , been running for hrs and no files deleted0 -
This is also why I am holding off.
I'm waiting for clear, unambiguous info about this fact.
I have Retail Pro8.1 64-bit, oem Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Dell Win7 Home Premium 32-bit.

Conflicting advice, according to freddy, I only need 2 disks, regardless whether Pro or Home Premium
I'm with grumpycrab, I need 32 bit OEM and 64 bit Home Premium Retail and 64 bit Pro Retail.
Fightsback, I'm aware of oem vs retail, which is why I always try to differentiate when referring to them.
Win 7 definitely had different media for OEM and Retail.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Win 7 definitely had different media for OEM and Retail.
no it did not (as such) the disks had a modified "el.config file" , resulting in only the type of install you had payed for was installed.
if you look at a win 7 disk , you can edit the eli.config file , and this will bring a menu up showing all the different versions on the disk

It's happening again today using Edge but Chrome is fine so I'm not sure it's an MSE problem.0 -
