Does hibernate work?
How to enable or disable Hibernate in Windows 10:- Press Windows + X keys to open Power menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)
- To enable the Hibernate, type command powercfg /h on
- To disable the Hibernate, type command powercfg /h off
Tried that, but it still does the same thing.Have you updated your drivers ??
No, but will check them for updates!Jivesinger wrote: »what does going to a command prompt (as gc described above) and typing this command do?shutdown /s /t 0
Tried that, still did the same thing. Left it overnight like that, and this morning battery completely flat!peter_the_piper wrote: »Really going off 10.
Going off 10 also!Check in device Manager do you see any devices with yellow ! marks? In particular here you are looking to see if the Intel IMEI driver is missing.
Is that for me? Will look.
HP Support Assistant just popped up with a tune up... Maybe that will fix the problem!0 -

Clicking on it for further info produced a list of error codes, but not that one. I followed the ISO route mentioned above and W10 is now installed.
Two aspects: the search engine defaults to Bing. There is a Google/DuckDuckGo workaround - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/microsoft/windows/11776236/How-to-make-Cortana-search-Google-in-Windows-10.html - but I haven't tried it yet.
Also, I would like to continue using Chrome, which is automatically disabled. In another forum, I saw the advice to uninstall and reinstall Chrome. I did that but now can't find Chrome. Oh dear.0 -
No printer driver and failed to install and Canon say no W10 driver .
After much messing i gave Win 10 a final warning circa John Cleese . It listened and a button appeared in Security and Maintenance install printer . I did and it worked .
Amazing what the threat of a good beating can do for machines .0 -

A more forceful version of the command I posted earlier isshutdown /s /t 10
Make sure you've saved everything and closed apps before using it because it should (in theory) force everything to close.
Also, I note in one of the pictures there's what looks like a USB device which I'm guessing is Bluetooth or Wifi or something? What happens if you unplug that, and indeed anything else connected to the computer, before shutting down?0 -

So maybe Cortana includes an algorithm that responds to threats?!0 -
is it possible to get rid of the image that appears before sign in0
