Installation failed. Error 80240020 seems to be a common problem. Simplistic workarounds do not resolve including clean out of download. Will try again tonight but not a good start.

There should be an option on the left called "Choose what the power buttons do". If you select the option, what does that screen look like?

I've also just turned off the 'Fast Start Up' which I am aware is a new Windows 10 thing. I shall see what happens now - can't test yet downloading something in background.

I was wondering whether anyone had achieved MS claim of an upgrade in "about an hour" ?
NOT a download and separate install - a straight forward upgrade ...
Mine (on an 80Mbps fibre on to a reasonably fast (2.8Mhz, 8Gb) laptop - took at least 4 times this claim !!

  • Glad someone posted this. My HP laptop is doing the same.

    Two things I have noticed.

    1) When I shut down, the power button stays lit up, in my case, over the past 4 shut downs the power button has remained 'lit up' I have to hold down and press it to turn it off and then switch back up to re-start my laptop

    2) When I close the laptop lid to send it to sleep, upon opening it nothing happens. It as though the laptop has shut down, and I have to press the power button to start up - settings are correct in laptop.

Both problems only occurred after Windows 10 upgrade on Wednesday.

Whats interesting is mine is a HP laptop as well, so wonder if its a HP issue

After working once its now doing the same as I mentioned before where it is not shutting down properly- just has the light on etc
