You might try disabling Fast Startup.

Just tried that thanks but made no difference unfortunately, the fans are going yes but there is nothing on the screen and have tried to wake it as though it was on sleep but that did nothing
As I say I am getting no error messages telling me I shut down incorrectly if I press the power button after a min or so, its little bit oddJuly 2015 Wins- Shaun The Sheep Goody Bag, 4x Books

Just managed to fix it by turning the power button option from sleep to off and now its turning off properly- not sure why that should make a difference but seems to have workedJuly 2015 Wins- Shaun The Sheep Goody Bag, 4x Books

ROTFL!
So you have a pirated copy of win7 hacked to prevent the activation which you hoped to be able to use as an upgrade path to a genuine version of win10!
Best laugh I've had this week.
Somehow I think you find a sudden lack of interest in your problems on this forum.0 -

Yeah because I formatted the laptop which came with Windows 7.
But no CD came with the laptop.
And friend of mine gave me Win 7 CD with RemoveWAT program. (which according to him will activate the windows).
I thought if I could go back to Windows 7 and then I could use the upgrade feature.0 -
MS are offering pirates a special rate to go legal on win 10.0

I upgraded last night. I had to start it off by checking for updates as it had failed automatically. The manual one worked fine and it probably took an hour or so but I wasn't counting.
It's too early for me to form an opinion as yet but it seems okay. It was initially very slow but I assume that it had housekeeping tasks to complete and it now seems pretty fast.
Betfair Poker doesn't seem to be compatible as I can't get the logon screen.0 -

Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Glad someone posted this. My HP laptop is doing the same.
Two things I have noticed.
1) When I shut down, the power button stays lit up, in my case, over the past 4 shut downs the power button has remained 'lit up' I have to hold down and press it to turn it off and then switch back up to re-start my laptop
2) When I close the laptop lid to send it to sleep, upon opening it nothing happens. It as though the laptop has shut down, and I have to press the power button to start up - settings are correct in laptop.
Both problems only occurred after Windows 10 upgrade on Wednesday.0 -
