...Now this is a feature I do not like about Windows 10 at all. When I want to shutdown my laptop I expect it to shut down, not go into a Hibernate mode!
FYI "Hibernate mode" is a power off mode - your problem is like going to sleep... which give me an idea.

    Does hibernate work?
How to enable or disable Hibernate in Windows 10:
    1. Press Windows + X keys to open Power menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)
    2. To enable the Hibernate, type command powercfg /h on
    3. To disable the Hibernate, type command powercfg /h off
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

How do I disable CORTANA in Win 10 ?
I see that it is using up resources (60Mb RAM according to the Task Manager)
If that's the laptop you were asking about the other day using 60MB of the 3GB+ that was completely unused isn't going to be a problem anyway.

Also on the sleep topic, some device drivers have an option in Device Manager which says 'allow this device to wake windows' or something on those lines. If it's your wifi or what looks like a USB adaptor, maybe it's keeping it awake?

Might be worth looking through Device Manager to see if any devices have a setting like that.

Also (save everything and close apps before trying this..) what does going to a command prompt (as gc described above) and typing this command do?
    shutdown /s /t 0

    Really going off 10.
Could not get edge, search , picture viewer to work so reinstalled it. Hooray says I, it works. Made the mistake of running some basic aV, spyware scans and now edge, search etc don't work, only 3rd party progs do.
    Any thoughts?

I have disabled Fast Start Up (see previous post and picture) but it still does it.

When I shutdown, it leaves the following lights on:

    <snip>

Check in device Manager do you see any devices with yellow ! marks? In particular here you are looking to see if the Intel IMEI driver is missing.

Go in to event viewer ->systems events and post up a screenshot the red errors that occur at the exact time you see the issues.

How is everyone finding Windows 10?

I'm reluctant to update from Win 7 just yet as Win 7 works flawlessly and there's no doubt going to be bugs in Win 10.

Think it's worth waiting for all the bugs to be ironed out before upgrading?

I've upgraded my desk top from Windows 8 but left my laptop on Windows 7. Windows 10 seems to be better than 8 but not as good as 7, but that might be because I'm not as familiar with it. I'm going to leave my laptop until I've become familiar and then decide what to do.
