    If you have said no to the upgrade, then from what I have read it would not download the upgrade files/iso.

    Microsoft can be somewhat daft, but not that much.

    I think you may be misreading the compulsory update policy, regards AFTER Win10 upgrade.

    You will not be forced to download and install it, if you don't want it. You have a year to make up your mind. After that, you still decide you don't want it, you can choose to still refrain. However, if you then change your mind, it's going to cost you......Simples.
    If you want to keep W7 for the next 5 or 6 years you can happily do so.
    There is absolutely no need for any of the angst over the issue.

    It's a shame they're not offering free upgrades from XP and Vista, because I'd go for them.

    most of their parents were brought up on windows 95/98 , although in a lot of cases in the up this might have been win 7 or 8!
