So...
Hopefully anyone upgrading tomorrow is spending today backing up their current version of windows just in case things go wrong.
I spent yesterday tidying up and backing up my win7pro machine ( removing unwanted programs and about 700gb worth of games I've not played in a year!)
Not sure wither to just upgrade or flatten the whole thing and do a clean win 10 install?!?Laters

Yes that's a good point.So...

I'm putting off the upgrade on my main machine for a while until the dust settles but will certainly be backing up before I upgrade.
My understanding is that you need to do an Upgrade first, in order to grab the free Win10 Licence. Then, once it's activated, Microsoft have said you can clean install later - not sure of exact mechanism yet.Not sure wither to just upgrade or flatten the whole thing and do a clean win 10 install?!?0 -
Well that's why I did a full system backup so I can upgrade to win 10 and if their are problems I can get back to where I exactly was before the upgrade and then use the downloaded files to do a clean install if possible.
And I'm sure a full win 10 ISO all find its way into the net in a few days if the upgrade files can't do a clean install...

I think that I read that MS were incorporating an OS back up - to allow you to save Win 10 to DVD/Memory stick for later reinstallation ?0 -
A lot of machines already have it downloaded and it will be available after midnight tonight. Is there going to be a deluge of Windows 10 downloads tomorrow? Will there be some sort of phased rollout?
Insiders already have the final version with maybe a couple of last minute updates to come.
The first activations are happening right now in New Zealand..Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I really don't know whether to update or not on my laptop (my desktop is staying Win 7 pro) - My laptop has been giving me grief for 2 years (it is Win 8 updated to 8.1) and has been rebuilt/restored several times, due to freezing and similar issues - last time was last week - so I guess that Win 10 can't be any worse and I may as well update ....0

I've been running W10 on my laptop with no problems. It's a 5 year old Sony Vaio.I really don't know whether to update or not on my laptop (my desktop is staying Win 7 pro) - My laptop has been giving me grief for 2 years (it is Win 8 updated to 8.1) and has been rebuilt/restored several times, due to freezing and similar issues - last time was last week - so I guess that Win 10 can't be any worse and I may as well update ....
I was having no problems with the laptop and W10 didn't add any, so, I guess you are right, it can't be any worse...;)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
