It's a shame they're not offering free upgrades from XP and Vista, because I'd go for them.
Your in luck yes they are

Windows Vista and Windows XP users with compatible hardware can buy an upgrade to Windows 10, but this will require a clean install that erases all programs and files.
xp and vista use a different core , and cannot be upgraded , clean install only (paid for)0 -

Vista and XP do not qualify for the free upgrade, only W7 or above does.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

OK update , if you grab a 10240 iso and try to install it as a clean install , it will not accept the default key.
Microsoft have turned this feature off until later this year
work around:
open a elevated command prompt
type
slmgr /ipk W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX
enter
type
slmgr /skms kms.xspace.in
type
slmgr /ato
close the command prompt
the copy is now activated (legally)
the registration seems to be failing on about 50% of my test loads , so this is a good work round without having to resort to "toolboxes"0 -
I have an Asus X205TA laptop/netbook, which is a fantastic, little machine for what I need it for, but I am concerned about installing Windows 10 on it (having already reserved my copy). I think that the hard drive is 32GB. Of that, about 12 GB is for the operating system and I have about 20GB for my files, and out of that I only have about 2GB spare.
Will Windows 10 automatically download next week to my hard drive space, filling up all my 2GB of free space, failing, and killing my computer? Or will it download magically to the Windows 7 operating system space, overwriting some of that?
Furthermore, when it automatically updates in the future, will that take place within the operating system partition or my own space?
Hope that question makes sense! Thanks.0 -

32 g is not a lot , cleanup time now!
go to backup/restore and delete all un needed restore points , then empty the recycle bin , then do into file explorer , drive c properties , disk cleanup , after running it , run again , but this time select system files , this will get rid of the bits of un used service packs and updates ,
win 10 (clean install) actually takes up a lot less space than win 7/8
after you upgrade , you will get the chance to remove your win 7/8 files , thus getting your space back0 -
Thanks. I've just ordered a mini SD card, so I plan on transferring many of my files there (I have about 6GB in dropbox as it stands). That will free up space. I'm just worried about where Windows 10 downloads to and whether it will then install to the operating system partition safely.enfield_freddy wrote: »32 g is not a lot , cleanup time now!
