Win 10 is supposed to be the final OS from MS and all new pc are installing it.
Going back to win 7 only postpones the inevitable.

Oh I don't know. 5 more years+ of continued Windows 7 support sounds fine to me. Use it for another 5+ years with a decent AV. I may have met my inevitable end by then.

Just how desperate are MS to get everyone to "up"-grade to Win 10 ?

I deleted update KB3035583 last week to prevent my desktop from "up"-grading - only to discover that in the meantime the update has sneakily reinstalled itself.....
I did "hide" the update as well !!

You might "only" postpone the inevitable switch to Linux when Win7 support ends in 2020, but for many people that gives them extra time to learn and adapt to a proper OS. ;)

I find it strange that so many people don't question which OS works for them. And strange that the attitude to Win10 is broadly, "Newer is better, and you don't have any choice. So switch to Windows 10 whether you like it or not."

In my mind, while both Win 7 and 10 are supported, there doesn't seem to be a single reason to upgrade, and many reasons not to.

I prefer to move with the times.

    XP good
    Vista crap
    Win 7 good
    Win 8 crap
    Win 8.1 crap
    Win 10

Win 7 makes you three OS behind

My old banger is about 1000 times behind the latest cars but it still gets me from A to B.

An Operating System is just a tool.

Just in case you thought you'd disabled the Windows 10 snooping, they've sneakily renamed it!

So... is it just about fashion and feeling "trendy"? "Moving with the times" for its own sake is just the inverse of the "appeal to tradition" fallacy.

That's why, supposedly, the word "new" is the most often used word in advertising. People fall for it without knowing whether it's a good thing or not.

What makes "new" better? And what makes upgrading to Windows 10 so incredible that someone would want to replace a fully-working, fully-supported OS?
