Well, after another search I found a link to a microsoft update repair tool; I ran that and it said it found and fixed an error, but it still didn't run the update, I rebooted the laptop and ran it again and it again said it found and fixed an error, but update still didn't work; I tried again and it did.
So now I'm up to date.
I've forgotten what I was going to use the computer for, though!0 -
I am now happily (*) on Windows 10, with a working laptop screen. In my case it was the BIOS revision that was the root of the issue. I updated from 212 to 303 and all is now OK ... even though I have a "non-supported" graphics chipset (HD 3000).
(*) I'm liking it so far anyway.0 -

Quick question. Upgraded to W10 Pro 64bit recently. After starting up my wifi adapter does not see any networks and won't scan for them until I manually disable and re-enable the device in Device Manager. It's a nuisance to have to do this every time I boot up.
Do you think it's an issue with the wifi adapter driver not liking W10? Have checked and there is no updated driver available for W10 yet. Thanks for any adviceIn deep...0 -

If you want to go back to W7, you need to go into Control Panel. This gives you the option to revert on the top line.As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0
