2 Can you revert back to windows 7 if for some reason you don't like 10?

    Thanks,

How would you reinstall 7 now?

Thanks for reply I have acronis backups of my windows 7, but at the same time if I upgrade to 10 I want to be able to revert back to windows 7, if 10 doesn't work the way I like.

Maybe you ought to read up on TPM and how it is used.

MS have had TPM support from Vista (and possibly XP). Most business range of PCs have had TPM since about 2007. Business use it a lot as it makes the central management of things like Bitlocker that much easier.

You CAN upgrade from 8 to 10, just not via Windows Update. You update via an ISO.

Have you got a source for this information? I know you can install the BETA version from an ISO, but I can't find anywhere that says you can install the RETAIL version from an ISO.

Which I'm a bit miffed about, because I've got 2 PCs and 5 virtual machines which are all eligible for the upgrade, and I don't want to download an automatic update of 3 GB 7 times (total 21 GB).

Another question: if I upgrade Windows 7 32-bit, will that upgrade to Windows 10 32-bit or will it force me to 64-bit? Even though my PC is capable of running 64-bit Windows, I want to stay on 32-bit because I only have 3 GB of RAM. Also, will Windows 10 have a 16-bit compatibility layer, so that I can run my old DOS programs (as I can do now on Windows 8.1) for nostalgia purposes?

God I hope not, surely it's time to kick 16 bit to the kerb.

Lots of sources showing the upgrade matrix e.g.

I can't run loads of old DOS stuff in 64 bit Windows 8.1 and Windows 7. I assume you have 32 bit versions? Don't count on it coming back in Windows 10.
Anyway, people like you and me should be running a virtual machine with Windows XP or something in it (VritualBox - free), or DOSBox.

Can't you just build yourselves a couple of Colossi powered by steam engines or something?

I already have a 25-year-old computer running Windows 3 but I've stored it away waiting for it to be 50 years old so that I can give it to a museum.
