  • Just had to rescue a little poorly hedgehog at work! Took him round to the vet and he's snuggled straight into a kennel so they think it's a bit of overheating and tiredness. They are going to give him plenty of water and food and look after him :)

Eeeeeeeeep! That sounds horrendous, Pyxis! Is your toe any better? Knee?
    ..
The knee's getting there, although I'm still resting a lot. I did go out yesterday and it was a bit twingy. Ditto the toe. Getting there.
    I think I'll live!
Guess what! I've been doing this free online OU course, with FutureLearn, and I got an email from them today about some new courses coming up, and one if them was about Avoiding Falls!
I decided it was a message, so I signed up! :rotfl:
(Ps. It's for people who've had or are at risk of falls, for health workers, for people who know others who may be at risk of falls, the causes of falls, how to prevent them, the health consequences of falls, and that falls are not just a symptom of ageing.)

That seemed to get my second moving when he was 12 days overdue! :D:D

It's not weird at all, Katy! Go for it!

Aw, I know how Littlewing feels!

Well done, HBS! I rescued a hedgehog I found at the side of the road early in the morning once when I was 14. I took it into my teacher friend (who was then the headteacher) and asked him to do something. It was covered in fleas and so was I. He looked rather befuddled (plus horrified at the fleas!) and ended up placing it in a box to take home with him to release in his garden when school was over. He took it for a vet check too and it was very healthy. He went through all of his meetings that day with a hedgehog in a box in his office which I insisted on checking on frequently...

Hahahaha! That course is meant for you, Pyxis! Glad that you are feeling a little better!

lol, pyxis, I obviously am worse than you. You got Avoiding Falls; I got 3D printing of body parts https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/bioprinting?utm_source=FL_DB&utm_medium=crm&utm_campaign=25_08_2015_FL_newsletter&utm_content=text

Fascinating though. I am tempted but I know I don't have time right now.

  • Ooooh, how interesting, whitewing!

It's a miracle. Two months in a row my Doctors surgery have completed my prescription on time, in fact it's two days early. It's ironic because now that I have prepared myself for something to go wrong monthly and stocked up on medication it's working out every time!

Don't be put off by how many hours a week it says! That errs on the side of extreme slowness, and as it's free, you could skim through each instalment and just download any PDFs etc for digesting later!

It says 4weeks at 2 hrs a week. I bet it wouldn't take you more than an hour a week to get the gist of it all!

  • Ooooh, exciting! That sounds like a really good company! New things can be scary but you can handle it! This is small fry compared to what you have dealt with the last few months.
