Yes, HBS, I find that with clothes, too.
Don't be upset by trying on new clothes. Do your existing clothes in your normal size still fit everywhere?
If so, then it's not you that's changed, it's the cut of the new clothes!
All my life I've been a pear shape, so have been used to things being too small around the hips when they fit up top, or too big on the shoulders when they fit down below.
Now, though, I've got to contend with being a pear with a flabby tummy roll and fat upper arms! If by some miracle I find something that fits shoulders, hips and tummy, you can bet your life the arms will be too tight! Aaaargh!
One reason why I trawl charity shops, and usually only wear separates!(I just lurve spiders!)

Ack, tight arms are a pain in the backside too!
Yes all my old clothes still fit but most have a touch of stretch to them

They have messed with the sizes.
When I was 14/15 I was bridesmaid and I wore a size 16 dress as I was about the same height as now and about 10 half stone.
I am now 3 stone heavier and some of my clothes are still a size 16!!!
I tried on my bridesmaid dress a month or two ago it had a two inch gap across the back and could not do up the zip.
Mind you I am 36E on the top now. So that might have something to do with it. I find blouses the worst as they gap!!!

Calley, you are dead right! They have mucked about with the sizes.
The size 12 jeans I wore in the 70s, which I still have, are far too small for me now, yet I am wearing a pair of size 12 M&S (stretch!) jeans. I am 2.5 stone heavier than I was then. Another type of M&S jeans in a 12 doesn't fit me at all! And in another shop, even a 14 won't do up!
Plus we never used to have size 6 or even size 8 in most clothes shops. A size 10 was the smallest and was considered tiny.
I think the sizing has changed to be like the American system.(I just lurve spiders!)

I'm struggling to find anything to fit at the moment. Even my maternity clothes are too small now, although there isnt any point getting any new clothes with not long to go, so I am squeezing myself in to things that dont fit.
I feel so uncomfortable it puts me in a bad mood!
Having a hulk day today so wondering if I am safest just hiding in bed for the day. I can't face doing anything because everything is winding me up. Grrr!0 -
I agree that sizing has changed, over the years I have needed larger bras and smaller waist sizes but my actual measurements haven't changed at all for 15 years. My old clothes still fit perfectly but modern sizing appears to be all over the place. I fit 3 different clothes sizes depending on which shop I use and I used to buy the same size from several of these shops years ago without a problem.
Big hugs HBS, I am sorry that you feel low. Honestly though, it is likely the sizing of the clothes that has changed rather than you gaining weight.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I might join you in the fort HBS if that is OK?
I may well just sit sulking in the corner though!
Decided that despite feeling hulk-like I was going to have a productive day and pull myself together. Got the hoover out to have a good clean round and it has broken. And yes, I burst in to tearsI was going to see if MIL or someone was free to come round for a cup of tea to cheer me up, but now noone can come to the house as I cannot hoover.
I'm also feeling guilty cos I yelled at the dog earlier for escaping out the front gate. I'm hiding upstairs now as I don't want to upset him further but just cannot shift this mood.
