    - glad to see that there is at least one other corned beef hash appreciator on here. It's a regular supper dish chez the JMs. We also have a delicious dish which is chorizo fried up with onions and potatoes, sometimes with chickpeas as well. Really good simple supper fare!
    !)

Mmmm that sounds lovely! We never used to eat chorizo at all, until I discovered a chicken and chorizo stew slow cooker recipe and now we use it in a lot of meals.

Haven't had cornbeef hash in ages, could eat some right now!

That's lovely WaS! You've made a valuable contribution to their lives. :)

Reasons I am late for work: part 1 - the sheer unadulterated enthusiasm of an early morning Gitdog for his first walk of the day.

There's some incredibly detailed build your own hug machine instructions for the technically minded amongst us (ie not me.) I get the theory, but it is a bit of a scary looking contraption. Maybe we could work on the aesthetics at the same time.

    Morning all!

Did not sleep well at all last night and as a result I'm a bit zombie-fied today :( however I did go for a jog last night and did a fair bit of housework!

Came home yesterday to a card saying I had 2 parcels to collect from the post office. Got them this morning...one is my squad's DVDs from our last competition and the other was two tshirts that Mr HBS ordered for me as a surprise. Bless his little heart :)

WaS, that story made me well up. I've had similar (but nowhere near so in-depth) experiences with some of the little tearaways on the squad - sometimes kids just want someone to believe in them and tell them that they are cared about. Those kids obviously love you to bits, and with good reason, and it's so heartwarming to see that they have done well for themselves.

    Morning my Lovelies,

Just resting on my bed after a shower. Cut the grass out the front and re potted a plant. And then I gave up as getting too hot out there.

Well you know the guy who lives about 100 miles away. he is just so sweet. He said he is happy to come to me even though I drive. I said about going out for a drink and meal. And he said he would be too nervous to eat. And he hopes he wont disappoint me and and that he wants to be good enough for me. Awwwwwwwwww I think I might have hit the jackpot here. And I was not even looking and it has changed my mind about being in a relationship now.

I am not sure if how my ex ever had 3 long term relationships if his behavior over the last 3 yrs is anything to go by. I don't think he knows how to have a loving, caring relationship. I did see a side to him a couple of years ago. he would text me every morning asking me how I was. And said after a couple weeks I should meet his mother then he ran off. And claimed afterwards he did not know what he was thinking of. Think he is too scared to have a relationship. Which is sad as I think there is a nice guy in there but he wont let him out as scared of getting used.

Anyway. I suppose I ought to think about getting dressed :rotfl:

    Yours

Not doing particularly well at being productive today. Little Sod has been cuddling on my lap most of the day though so that is my excuse

Slightly better day going on here........ have managed two loads of washing and some constructive internet research instead of a completely wasted day. I think a plan is slowly starting to formulate in my head of how to move forward.....

    Ok.......food research was interesting........
Pasta - averages around 360 calories per 100g, BUT going through my cupboard I found that some pastas can be much lower in calorie content - Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Linguine was 172 calories per 100g - so I will be doing a full pasta calorie content check in the next few days. Also discovered that bread varies a lot more in calorie content than I thought too - so will be investigating that in more detail too.

Packet of crisps (Hoops and Crosses) is 85 calories
2 slices of bread and 60g houmous is 330 calories
    2 Weetabix and 200ml skimmed milk - 210

Gotta wonder if you would just be better off eating the crisps!!! However, the Weetabix does make me feel fuller for longer.

Was very pleased to discover tin of heinz cream of chicken soup is 208 calories - that works for me! I recently tried a whole range of soup flavours and brands including supermarket brands and can honestly say nothing beats Heinz cream of chicken for me!

Katy - complete fail on my "little change" today - nearly 4pm and I have not done my morning routine yet!!!!

Don't worry flybaby, I have done nothing today either!
Tried to be healthy and have strawberries as a snack, but covered them in clotted cream.
I've done two loads of laundry and some washing up, and now I seem to have ended up back in bed!
Toad in the hole for tea tonight if I can find my roasting dish. Not very healthy but means I have to get out of bed to cook it.

Set up a photobucket account but it seems to block me from putting pictures on here. Do I just copy and paste the HTML link?

How about we give ourselves an hour to decide what we will do, and at 5pm kick ourselves into doing a little/healthy thing?

A portion of pasta is 75g. I just use to eyeball it. And I am not sure of how much we use to eat, but it was way to much. But then I started to weigh it.

I have had an apple to eat and a can of pepsi max. I did cut the grass this morning which wore me out LOL!!!

I bought scales for my kitchen initially just so I could weigh pasta as I always ended up with the wrong amount doing it by eye. I do around 3 1/4oz for me.
