OH dear, we are pigs in this house = a portion of pasta is 80g :D

I had a supreme waste of time this morning. Went to a meeting in London. I realised just as we left Baker St on the tube that I had visualised two different venues in my mind - Stratford and Victoria. Thinking about it logically.... I tried to google it but the train went underground before I got my emails up. It had to be Stratford, didn't it? The train finally emerged to sunlight at West Ham, and it was at that point that I found I should be at Victoria.

Turned round, went to Victoria, presented myself for meeting. No-one knew anything about it, and it had been booked for 1.30 this afternoon. (A time which had NEVER been suggested to me!) A phone call established that it has been changed, or confirmed (again, not to me!) for next week. Went home....... Only 4 hours' travelling for nothing :o

    Good evening all!

What a pain, JM! Similar happened to me once, I had to go into Euston from Hertfordshire for an Incapacity Benefit assessment. After many drugs to get me there it turned out the doctors were off sick so it couldn't be done. Rather than contacting anyone they waited until they came in to tell them. I was not amused! You have my total sympathy, go put your feet up.

I have never weighed pasta in my life, we just pour and judge it by eye. We are probably eating enough for four people...

Someone wonderful sent me a little gnome! I have one! I am ridiculously happy and he is sitting in amongst my house plants. I keep getting up to pat him, I am already attached!

Set up a photobucket account but it seems to block me from putting pictures on here. Do I just copy and paste the HTML link?
I only know how to do it from an iPad. If you use an iPad, I can tell you!

JM what a pain! I hope someone gets a rollicking!

WaS! A gnome! What are you going to call him?

    Gnome sweet gnome?
    Gnome place like gnome?
(And other equally bad gnome puns.) Does he have a name yet WaS? Did you know you can google gnome name generators? Although you may possibly need to be into world of warcraft to appreciate them.

I am in need of cheering up this evening. Something happened at work which was a bit close to home and which upset me more than I realised.
I have just taken Gitdog for a bounce to blow the cobwebs away which helped and I now need a good laugh. Or even a bad laugh - any further gnome puns welcome!

I don't think it is an iPad Pyxis, couldn't tell you what it is though!

Oooh I like gnomes! We bought a rather cheeky gnome for MIL for Xmas, won't tell you what it was doing! It did have a long Mac on though... She loved it!

Is it OK to get annoyed on someone else's behalf? Someone is being treated badly and yet they do not recognise it themselves, and it is bugging me. I don't particularly get on with this person, but it does wind me up to see them being worn down by someone else's behaviour.

I don't know any gnome puns Elsien, but I will tell you my favourite joke in the world if you promise to laugh!

What do you call two banana skins?

    A pair of slippers!
  • WaSp who was previously strongly protesting against me ever having a gnome immediately named him Fred! I knew he would become attached if one arrived. I think he needs a middle gnome-like name, though. Off to the gnome name generator!

    Ok.......food research was interesting........
Pasta - averages around 360 calories per 100g, BUT going through my cupboard I found that some pastas can be much lower in calorie content - Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Linguine was 172 calories per 100g - so I will be doing a full pasta calorie content check in the next few days. Also discovered that bread varies a lot more in calorie content than I thought too - so will be investigating that in more detail too.

There was a 'diet' programme on TV a couple of months ago, and they said that if you cooked your pasta, let it go cold, then reheated it, it had less calories! I can't remember the figures, but every little helps!

sliding back into lurkdom now .................
