  • That sounds wonderful, Pyxis!

Veg boxes interest me! I have considered getting one because I don't eat nearly enough vegetables and I am supposed to have a lot in my diet. Also, all we have here are supermarkets and no markets or greengrocers so vegetables are often expensive and because WaSp goes shopping late there is usually a minimal selection and what is there is wilting. There is no fruit or veg I don't like so I might benefit from a box delivery as long as it isn't expensive.

Aw, melly! That looks wonderful! I totally love it!

    !
Well, they're not particularly cheap, but the advantage to me is that I don't have to keep going to the supermarket, so I actually spend less, plus I don't have to decide what to buy, and it's a nice surprise seeing what arrives. (You can check online what's coming, but I like the surprise!) The big benefit is that they are organic, so aren't smothered in pesticides and herbicides.
They don't last well, so it makes me cook the veg! And eat it!
The people I use also do meat, fish, dairy, bread and cakes, eggs, beer, wine, juice, stock cupboard stuff and some household cleaning products, and seasonal specialities, eg Christmas.

They do a variety of box types and sizes. If you don't like a particular veg, you can exclude it permanently. You get given something else instead. You don't have to have a set box; you can just order individual fruits and veggies. You can order weekly, fortnightly, monthly, etc. or a combination of differently timed orders.
You can do it all online or by phone. You can cancel or order something that week up to a deadline....forget what it is, but it's quite close to the delivery day.
This is an example of one of their boxes........

Their customer service is superlative! I can't fault it! If there's a problem, there's no quibble, if it's their mistake, they'll often give you something free to make up for it, and when I'd been with them 10years they rang me and said that as a loyalty reward, I could have a bottle of wine and food to the value of £20 as a thankyou. So I had some fillet steak!

  • Those boxes look delicious! I am wondering if I could afford a small one every couple of weeks, if the fruit and veg is here I have to eat it so my diet will improve. I would always go for the surprise box, I like surprises! Their customer service sounds excellent!

Wow - busy day of chat - yea to dates and being assertive and to garden gnomes (especially inside gnomes WaS - which should be named inglebert the inside!). And you are all talking about lovely garden things and we spent the day moaning about our aches and pains after all day with the cement mixer laying patio sab yesterday...... and we only managed a quarter of it!!! I will be so pleased when it is all finished and we can enjoy our garden instead of build it!

Make up.........hmmmmmmm........... I bought some for my wedding last year - does that count?

Pyx - any tips on how to incorporate veg into meals? I really struggle. I find it very difficult to eat boiled piles of veg as I find them very bland and obviously don't want to load them with TOO fattening sauces.....I try and add peas, sweetcorn, beans to rice and I have a killer trick for boiled carrots with a teaspoon of honey, knob of butter and a dab of mustard, which means I can will eat an entire plate of carrots....any ideas anyone?

So pleased to finally be home after spending the day with my best friend who has massively changed and is driving me up the wall.
