Pyxis, we eat a lot of stir frys too, had one tonight infact! We mostly eat chicken, but sometimes Turkey. We try not to eat too much red meat. We find that tinned tomatoes are invaluable, I bulk buy them when they are on offer at the supermarket, they are especially good for throwing into the slow cooker.

Love it! :rotfl: From here forward that's what they shall be known as!

I'd like to hear your chilli recipes for the stewing steak and chicken versions please. I don't like mince, I usually use quorn if it's a mince dish. I've always fancied trying chilli though and would eat one if other meats were used.

Flybaby, i have one of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spiral-Slicer-Cutter-Kitchen-Tool-Vegetable-Fruit-Spiralizer-Twister-Peeler-New-/131533911340

I use it to make vegetable noodles which i use instead of pasta or noodles out of courgette/carrot etc. I also use to make spirals or julienne of cucumber/courgettes/carrot/green beans which make great quick salad or i add to whatever i am cooking for a couple of minutes to soften and they disappear into the dish for example any kind or soup/casserole/pasta sauce/rice.

I was wondering of they are any good. I might treat myself to one.

    Yours

    Calley

Yes, they do look like a good idea, and are cheap enough, too!

    Might give one a go!

Pyx - thanks hon - you've given me lots of ideas to trya nd jazz things up a bit - ((hug & squish))

oldestgnome - thanks for the top tip - just ordered one. I grate carrot and courgette into salads and am forever grating my fingers - so that twisty thingy is fab idea!

MU - big hug, repeat of what everyone else says - but thank you for being such a gem as to let everyone know you might be off for a while so they don't worry - that's v.thoughtful.

    Hello Brickwall! **waves**

Right - sitting here dreading 10am - DH has arranged for MIL to call me. Apparently MIL wants to talk to me to apologise for being critical as she is feeling so bad about it. I am not really ready for the conversation but she is a lovely lady with a heart of gold and I don't want to be the cause of her feeling even more upset that unusual and I appreciate the my DH is in a real sticky situation with his mum constantly saying she feels bad and me not wanting to tackle the issue. Big deep breath.
