    Spend today. Eeeked out the diesel I had left to get me home from work yesterday and back again today. With the wind that seems to be everywhere at the moment, this was no mean feat.

    Am trying to work out when I next need to go to the supermarket. I think I have enough stuff in for lunches and suppers until the weekend, probably longer if I really think about it.

    Just remembered that at my bestie's birthday dinner on Saturday we discussed my OH's 50th. It's January next year, so I have time, just haven't really got a clue what to do.

    Hello everyone.

    So... the usual story for us.
    * Food budget = £120.
    * Petrol = £40.
    * Treats = £40.

    Yesterday was probably one of the most intelligent spend days we have ever had. Hit morries just at the right time and spent £23.82 on heaps and heaps of meat.
    We're talking pork chops, turkey breast steaks, chicken thighs, burgers and some ribs. Then we divided them into meals... 15 seperate meals.
    :eek:

    I know the aim this month was to empty our freezer but to be honest, apart from my collection of chicken dippers, the freezer was pretty much empty.
    :o

    Today was a spend-free day as I was on night shift. Hooray for sleeping all day.
    :D

    We do have a holiday this month... but I have saved for it. There are no flights for us to miss so we should be fine. Hopefully.
    ;)

    Away back on to nightshift again. Only two more until the holiday. Hope everyone is doing okay.
    :)

    Fmess... I hope you are alright. It's always difficult to make these sort of decisions but I trust that you made the right call for you and although your debt free date has been set back slightly, your happiness levels will be greater.
    Hugs.

    Jesus I so identify with this one! Very timley. Had a long email from the insurance today of all the new hoops they want me to jump through. I feel like giving up I really do, I would gladly never hear from them ever again, but something inside wont let me. I feel like I spent a year getting them to admit fault, which took some real blood sweat & tears & tunnel vision to achieve. Now I have to keep kicking to get to the end of this darned process. So a very good saying thank you.

    Today was a spend day as we needed milk,bread and I had a parcel to post,not a good start. On the positive side I have sorted through our small freezer and found loads of tubs with no labels, so we will be having some interesting meals. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Pulled one out ready for tomorrow night, will know in the morning what it is. Note to self - Label tubs.

    I am also extending clear down to toiletries etc,bathroom cupboard is groaning under the weight of half used bottles of this and that, lots of upside down bottles in my cupboard now.

    The thought of having empty cupboards and freezer is very frightening, goes back to childhood I think, always had full cupboards, actually our kitchen was not that big and we didn't have many cupboards,so maybe that's why they always looked full. :) I will overcome my fear of empty cupboards.

    Off for a very early night as I feel so washed out, will do battle with budget and debt tomorrow. Big hugs to all that need them.

    Doris Sounds like you are off to a cracking start!

    You don't have to get down to totally empty cupboards. Just, think about what you have lurking and what could be cleared by using it in a few meals. Have you got stuff that has lurked and lurked? Can you use it or donate it or find another non'-food use for it?

    Hi again...

    Is nice hearing where everybody came from and what brought you here...

    I got myself into debt as a student living a lifestyle I couldn't afford... Mired myself deeper in debt, being handed out loans to pay of another loan, credit cards galore until finally I saw the light and joined Step Change. I defaulted on all my loans figuring it would take 6 years to clear them (that's how long they stay on your record) and slowly started chipping away at them.

    I became debt free last November... for about 2 weeks... moved in with a guy and had to borrow money from my parents for a deposit on a flat, and bought house things on my card... then that went to the wall - and I ended up having to move again a few weeks back... Am almost debt free again - and should be this month again...

    Lesson learned. I won't ever borrow again for something I cannot afford (unless it's getting a mortgage). At 42 I still rent in a houseshare... so have a long way to go to feel settled and secure... but - I can finally start saving for that and living a little - after making a lot of sacrifices these last few years.

    Today = SFD number 2 :D

    Any plans for this evening? The storm has abated here and so may venture out for a walk later. Day off tomorrow (and planned spend day) for fresh veg and fruit.

    Have a good evening peeps :)

    Stewby Only to empty if they are rammed full. Sounds like you had an excellent shop and that should see you through a good few meals, well done!
