Have done all my debt payments, and tonight I will sit down and sort out what's in the cupboards. I'm hoping to join a lot of you and use up all the stuff lingering in the fridge, freezer and cupboards :D

Tomorrow will be my first SFD. We still have no car but OH has been allowed to take the work van home, so he can give me a lift in that to work in the morning and save me the bus fare :)

I'm going to pledge not to buy anymore toiletries this month and instead, "shop my stash", as I have a ton of cosmetics and toiletries in the cupboard, I really don't need anything else!

I'm really hoping that spending a month in everyone's wonderful company here will really help me to curb my spendy habits. I could be debt free so much quicker if I could stop being so wasteful with my money.

Well done everyone on making a great start to the challenge and thanks for having me along. My favourite TMNT was always Raphael btw :D:D:D

NSD and LTW 1 today. Made a tasty dinner using "mystery meats" from the depths of the freezer (pieces which have been sitting there for so long, you forget what cuts they are...) :D

Haven't done very well with my step count the past few days. Annoying colleague at work managed 10,000 by lunchtime!! :p

Brother returns from uni for summer tomorrow. Very excited :j

I've nabbed my first NSD of the month, plus an exercise session as I got in a 45 minute walk.

Today I am grateful for lovely colleagues, for dd having a great first day back at school, for our climbing frame, for rainbow fabric for bunny ears (mothernerd - if you pm me yr address, I'll send you one - and you can ch shop it if it clutters), for a good walk in sunshine, for dh being home at a reasonable hour.

    Evening all,

So after nearly a week of barely being on here, I am back. Thank you for all your hugs and kind words fellow turtles. My household is down to me and (by the weekend) three dogs and a cat. It has been a tough week but I am hoping it is the right thing for the future.

In terms of money, I am now in more debt than I was on 1st January this year, however I am ready to tackle it. I have pushed my DFD back to January 2017, however this is still a year and 5 months earlier than the estimated date for me paying off my original debt :) My budgets will be very tight but I am responsible for all the money going in and out so I can keep an eye on everything. This month will be expensive as I have a hen do in London, however I have already paid for most activities and trains, so I will keep other costs to a minimum.

The one positive on the money-side is that I have lots of extra work coming in throughout June, July and August, so I shouldn't go further into debt and will pay any extra I can off the debts.

    Lets do this turtles :)

Hello turtles! Fmess, sounds like some big changes, look after yourself :)Samiszel, "mystery meats" sound intriguing, did you ever work out what they were?! :D
Today has been spendy by a very small amount. I knew it would be as I was meeting people from my old work tonight for a drink - got my first drink bought for me, and the girl who bought it just wanted tap water for her second, so all drinks free. Then there was food...just wanted starters as we weren't very hungry, but they were all £5+ each, so I suggested getting a few "nibbles" for the table instead - cost £2 each and we got five bowls full of different things - very pleased that overall spend today was only £2! Also brought the spare sauce sachets home for use later (waste not, want not!) Only just got home though! Hope the first day of June has been okay for the rest of the turtles :)
Bought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free! :D

Welcome back to all those who have been away for a while - mothernerd, speakingofart, thrifty, abundant, did I miss anyone? I have just read all four pages of this thread so sorry if I missed anyone.

Today I am grateful for having great friends and family, for people being cooperative when they didn't have to be, for a warm, safe home and my lovely pets, who love me unconditionally.

    Happy June everyone!

Counting today as a spend day. I have filled the car with fuel and withdrawn cash for holiday spends. I have also sent off a cheque to pay off my car finance. I had a 0% offer on my credit card, so am using that to pay off the finance as this will both allow me to save on interest but also make overpayments and pay it off sooner. At the beginning of this year my target was to pay off £5105 of my debts. Nearly half way through the year, I have almost achieved this. So, I am now tacking the car finance which is my final debt. Until I know what finance I will get for my masters, I don't know how soon I will be able to pay it off, but I will be throwing as much as I can afford towards it every month.

Shouldn't need any groceries this week as trying to use the contents of the fridge/cupboards before we go away. However, need a few toiletries to take away. This should be less than £10. We go on Sunday. Hotel is all inclusive, but we have seen an excursion we want to do and I am definitely going to the spa! Have budgeted £350 spends but am secretly hoping to bring some of this back home.

Grocery budget for the month is £150 and fuel budget is £100.

not a spend free day. been and bought some yummy food for OH and mine holiday. Cheques wrote for DD1 and DD2 guides and guide camp, money spent on photos for DD2 memory scrapbook. She was hard work today tried completing homework, think i need to go into school as i feel they are setting her up to fail as she just can't do it without a calculator. I'm all for them trying but its becoming clear that that area of her brain is damaged and she just can't do it and she is getting so frustrated and angry. Sorry for the rant. Should focus on the task at hand, glad to be back on here after several months away due to needing to get essay finished. Hoping to get spending under control.Meals planned for the month. Nwe budgets set
budgets = food gone:eek:/ petrol almost gone:eek:/nsd:mad:/ Treats: where the money gone? far far away:mad:/exercise not happening/declutter: only my purse:(

fmess - sending you lots of love and hugs. Take care of yourself. I don't know the circumstances, but such a vast change will affect you in ways you never thought of. Don't throw yourself entirely into work and exhaust yourself... xxx

I am spending a portion of my evening and the morning tomorrow planning meals and budgets for this month. I've spent a ridiculous amount of money out today but it has set me up in terms of food etc. With the haul of meat in the freezer and some clever planning I should be able to stick to as yet unset budgets :D lol.

shyspender for a recap of Liltland... I too am debt free and have been since 2013. I am also almost entirely asset-less. That is what I hope to amend in 8 or so years time. I want to buy a house but I live in the cripplingly expensive South East and whilst my job is very well paid considered, it is pro-rata. I can't afford the childcare to go back to full time. It would essentially mean me working for absolutely nothing 2 days per week, so for now I stick to stringent budgets and try and save as much as I can.

I live on my own with my jellytot (age 3 and 1 month), and her daddy comes to look after her on the 3 days per week that I am at work, staying 2 nights. We are together though we were not for a while and things got very rocky when she was 18 months old, which is why he no longer lives with us. We've repaired a lot but frankly I don't need him here any more than he is. I am fine on my own, but Jellytot needs her daddy and I enjoy the company :) sometimes... :rotfl:

I may need to move in September as my building is being sold and the way things are going it will likely be knocked flat! if so Him will move back in properly and start contributing as he has finally got an increase in contracted hours and a promotion which means he brings in actual money not pittance. Still half what I earn 3 days a week.. But every little helps. Anyway I am constantly looking for a house to rent but the prices are double what I am paying now, for not very much!

I'm looking after myself better, on a diet that my Doc recommended for migraines which has inadvertently cleared my psoriasis, lost me 10.5lbs in 6 weeks, given me tonnes of energy and left me glowing. I bought a fitbit and use it mercilessly to drive myself onwards. 20k+ steps today. 75 floors 2 days ago... and so on :) long may the diet continue :) even if I miss chocolate and ice cream!

Am off for the evening. Early night. Have a good one all. xxx
