Just a quick check in for me. Today is my first day in my new job, although I was stuck in the lecture theatre all day for Day 1 (of 4) of the Induction Programme. It was such a shock to my system being used to running around in my usual workplace. To sit all day listening to various presenters in a darkened room is very conducive for undivided attention (not). I hardly succeeded at keeping myself awake. I have 3 more of those days and I am definitely not looking forward to it. On the positive side, I managed to clock in my 1st NSD and LTW. I used the free park and ride permit that the trust gave me and hurrah, we had coffee and tea and water on tap. Tomorrow's lunches are already prepared so no rushing around tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow will be a spendy day unfortunately as I have underestimated the bread and sandwich fillers when I did the food shop yesterday. There's only enough for tomorrow's lunches in the bread bin/fridge. The fridge is full of the week's evening meals (week's menu already done) and freezer is stocked up too. Hopefully I could keep tomorrow's spend to the minimum.
As for the debt repayment, my OH has already sorted that out last week when he got paid. He didn't want to wait til today. Hopefully that's acceptable for this challenge. I have reckoned the bank account and I think there is enough room to make another small payment to top up last week's payment. I will do that tomorrow as it is a spendy day anyway.
Sister in law also paid me £22 she owed me on my birthday dinner, yippee. Awaiting for another payment from somebody, fingers crossed, they will do that asap so I could put that towards the cc payment as well. I think I might have found a new hobby - making small repayments every time we have some extra pounds in the budget. It is so addictive seeing the outstanding balance go down bit by bit.
Gotta hit the sack or else I will be struggling to keep my eyes open again tomorrow. I don't want to embarrass myself by falling asleep on the lectures. Good night all!"There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
SFD number 1. Flaming June? I'll be writing to the trades descriptions people. so glad I didn't have to go out in it. Saw a couple of mums going to pick the kids up from school. Buggies with screaming infants and six bags hanging off the back, only summer cardis to keep warm and looked like they were pushing trucks down the pit as they pushed into the stiff wind.
Wasn't being nosy, was waiting in for a parcel and knowing the delivery drivers tend to knock and run, I leapt to the window every time I heard a vehicle go past.
Bob on paper my income is less than my outgoings. Have used a variety of things to keep going since I have no idea when the house will sell and when I might earn some money again. I stayed out of the challenge last month as I wasn't actually paying off the debt. The stepchange thing (you can fill a form in with your circumstances anonymously) would have meant paying a token £1 a month to each of the cc debtors, giving me more to live off - this is because I expect things to change in the next twelve months (house sale). Would have wrecked my credit rating (not important) and I would not have been able to use the cards (this bothered me). Not bankruptcy but just felt like a total failure.
The credit shuffle puts me back to making a dent in the debt and the extra income from DS3 means things balance. Now that I am not 'fighting fires' I hope I can make myself a quiet space to re-build my business (well I have to basically, no-one is going to employ me and retirement is too far off). Hopefully the house will sell over the summer which would pay off the debts and give me a savings cushion. I have some ideas for less time consuming products I could make and sell on-line but atm I still can't use the sewing machine, stand or sit for very long and there are a whole raft of skills I need to learn or update. But last month was rock bottom, I was in crisis mode and now I am on the way up again.
Today I am grateful for peace and quiet (DS3 hasn't returned from his gf's so is presumably seeing how long he can cope with her parents and the demon child), for purposeful pottering (must download flylady and have a proper list to tick off) and for food from stores (still promising myself a baking day).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

The Only Girl -good luck with getting through the rest of your induction period. I can imagine sitting still in a dark room for hours is very challenging when you are used to being active.
Mothernerd - is your house actually on the market yet or are you still preparing it? Will you have to split it with the ex once it is sold? If that is too nosey just say. I am interested that's all.

Good morning,
I need to start this thing again too where I list things I m grateful for. At the moment I'm just really cranky and short tempered as nothing goes to plan at home. In work I can make a plan, work through it, go for my run at 12 etc. My desk is cleaner than my kitchen counters! At home plans don't work. Last night was yet another example. Had plans to do tackle some of the dirty floors, the fridge, a food inventory etc. Didn't get anything of that done apart from dinner, dishes and laundry because DD was teething badly and we took turns comforting her. Obviously not her fault but every day seems like that, nothing goes as i planned it. I know there are more serious problems around but this affects my mood etc. So the sun is out and I'll go for a long run at 12.
Today I am grateful for DD teething having subsided, the sun shining, at least being able to plan my time at work. And another SFD.
P.S. I am doing this challenge to pay of our debt that is left from the wedding and other things. To save for an emergency fund and have money for eventualities like a broken washing machine or even just to get through the next few years of crippling nursery costs.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Thanks Shyspender and Bob lifted my mood. Read last night but too tired to post. Worth popping on here for turtle support when your feeling low. :T
Applemuncher got blown all over the place stood on hilltop. I foolishly let the dog off her lead, still in season ran off chasing dogs. Soaked doesn't come close was out for ages trying to catch her and she's still howling her head off at 5am this morning.
I paid 21 off cards yesterday, get paid weekly so debts get paid little and often. Confident I will get there so want to get on DF roll of honour list.
Bought petrol today and some chocolate fingers for grandson cough cough as I collect him from school today.
Haven't meal planned today, healthy chicken butty for lunch and heaps of fruit. Tea might just have eggies in some form. Decision how to cook them later.
My background. Been on here forever it seems like, starting debt about 13K mainly due to escaping relationship took debt some with me, bought an oldish house needed money spending on it and as soon as moved in my car needed 2k of repairs. So my debt just grew. Small mortgage owe 35K. Cleared over 60% of debts so light at the end of this sewer
Live on my own with dog and daughters bunny. Various attempts at dating are just laughable. Really am Bridget Jones. Now bit too happy with my own company. Been asked out by school mate last night on facebook should be interesting Sunday, I can't remember him that well from school and he wasn't a cute one then.:o oh well meet up coffee and a walk.
Trying to use up toiletries this month. Ran out of perfume anyone recommend any cheap copies not too overpowering I could get?
Resisted putting heating on at home last night. June no way is it going on put it on in work today though.;)LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Dr. Carrie, does your boyfriend do lectures for men and romance? I think my OH can learn a thing or two from your boyfriend. As he is coming this weekend, the doctor orders NPO discontinued, changed to KVO, then fast drip. Nudge nudge wink wink... Oops sorry that was so naughty of me.
Thriftylass sorry to hear about your challenges with your DD's teething. Chin up, I am pretty sure you are not only one whose house looks like a disaster area from time to time. Speaking only for myself, I don't even have a teething baby. It will get better in time. Hugs from the turtles.
Bob, I have to say Day 2 of this induction doesn't seem to be as long drawn out as yesterday's. I am still feeling the urge to nod off or burn off my energy though. One of the lecturers ended her presentation with this:

Hi Everyone, happy June!
Kicked off with a spend day yesterday - started off well curbing the spends by eating an entire buttered emergency malt loaf for lunch (was an Aldi brand-shift experiment = FAIL! Not a patch on Soreen) Then went out for a curry as my friend is moving away, was BYO wine though so I saved there.
Today will be an SFD as I'm home from work and going to the Buddhist centre tonight for tea. It is a mitra ceremony tonight where people decide to call themselves a Buddhist and to try to follow Buddhist ethics - I've never been to one but it should be a fantastic and happiness-filled event with lots of family and celebrations. There's a great part of the ceremony which I think I'd put in our NST challenge if I ever run a monthMight walk as I'm full of cold - gale-force winds and reduced breathing skills don't go well with the bike I've already learnt today:rotfl:
Got my MOT booked in for Friday. Now I need to ring the roofer as it was leaking again next to me last night. Paid a lot to have him fix it last year so he needs to sort it out. Then I need to get in the hold queue to do battle with Natwest on the dreaded mortgage payment c*ck-up.
Calling, as if I wont be full enough after eating all those frogs, I also had a giant bag of Giant Buttons for breakfast, then had lunch, then I've just eaten a large bag of Matchmakers. Plus there will be cake tonight, so I'll join you in chocolate shame! (Also, I laughed out loud at your dog running riot and howling, my friend's cat used to romance the kitchen bin when she was on heat!)
wishus I love reading the descriptions in your posts, so even if you feel like you're not doing much of your own writing, we are certainly lucky to get a little bit of it here each day

I happily claim another NSD.
Today I am grateful for getting a walk in at lunchtime, for ploughing through some paperwork, for a great afternoon chat with colleagues, for the after-work meeting finishing early, for dd's subsequent joy at seeing me (and not her dad! ) picking her up.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
