Claiming a SFD today 2/20 even though ordered food online wasn't going to this month but needed lots of cupboard stuff and dog food. So taking advantage of Sainsburys 12.00 off coupon.

    - Giant Buttons that is so me, love making button sandwiches with 2 of them at time. Staying off chocolate today, copying Eyebright's shiny example.

The Only Girl - Sorry to hear about your Godfather/boss. Some bosses are lovely, had one once, passed away young, always remember came back from lunch he had bought me a cuddly ET(time the film was out) and left it sat in my chair.

Bob thanks for your lovely words and here's hoping Facebook guy is the one hehe.

Walked dog last night, got really upset seeing all flowers left outside nearby house, for a young mother who had died leaving 3 kids over the weekend. So sad lovely person. Seemed awful that no one had collected the flowers, made the house seem more silent. Small community so know everyone here.

    NSD 3
At the hospital, it's quite nice this sitting down thing isn't it :)
Insane day at the business but my bus account is now a much happier place. None for me but looks like a good chance of covering essential bills in the next week or so. Phew.

Thirftylass - you might have looked into all this, and I don't know much about car finance except that it's evil, but are you sure paying interest on the car (even at a low rate) for 18 years is the best way?
Apologies if you've worked it out (I geek out over this stuff), but if you were to pay off £10k over 18 years at 3% (for example) you would pay about £3k extra in interest  and as you say, that's before fees. Plus in 18 years' time you would almost certainly not have that car any more but still be paying it off, and have to finance the car that comes after it (and the one after that maybe!) in the mean time. Buying on a good 0% CC deal or going for a much cheaper car until DS is in school could work out better for you maybe? PS, wish my mortgage was that tiny :D

Had a productive morning sorting out council tax and bloody mortgage payments, then cancelling auto-renewal of house insurance and breakdown cover - really annoys me as I never signed up for them to retain my card details to take these payments again this year. Finalised May's budgets and put money in my FIRE pot though which is all good! Apple do you split between mortgage overpayments and savings/investments for your FIRE plans, if you don't mind me asking? I hate the debt so always want to throw money at the mortgage, but my savings should perform better in the long run - I drive myself crazy with this!

Today should be SFD2 as I'm back in my PJs with the lurgy. Hugs to everyone :)

Oof my first post is on day three! I've been going to be at about 8pm every night because even though I'm getting better I'm still exhausted, yesterday was a bit of a spendy day as I felt so low and tired. But the first was an NSD as was today so that's good!

I paid to my savings as soon as I got paid but I'm going to look at my account wheni've put the dinner on and see how much extra I can squeeze out of it :)

sorry to hear that Welsh kitty. Is there no other approach such as working and studying to keep the need for debt down? I am sure you have thought of everything possible already.

I do work and have just signed a new contract that allows me to annualise my hours, so I do more during holidays, less during term time, but average the right number of hours across the whole year and still get my normal salary each month. I also have £1000 emergency fund saved to ensure I have enough to live off for the next year. My problem is paying the course fee - £5000! The main grant I'm waiting to hear back from should cover all of the fee. I've also just been told I can apply for two others, 1 worth £1000 and 1 worth £500. Will wait to hear back about them all before making any decisions.

NSD no. 2 for me here. The induction finished at 2:30 pm and went straight home to avoid temptation of buying anything. Had a bit of a nap (these days of sitting around all day is taking its toll on me physically). Going out for a rehearsal with a ladies trio I am in (my friend's house) so not anticipating any expense there.

I had good news from Quidco. I have £4.16 ready to be claimed as Best Western acknowledged my cashback. Waiting to hear from Havens and Groupon for the cashback. I haven't made any purchase via Quidco for a while as I don't want to spend just for the sake of cashback. And I got my payment for the 2 night shifts I did a couple of weeks back. Another credit card payment £50 already done. Taking us down to £1650, but I'm pretty sure when the next statement comes out it will take us back to just less than £1700 due to interest. Oh how I wish I could pay the full amount already so I am not donating precious money to the bank every month in interest.

    Evening everyone!

Got caught in the cross fire of a relationship drama - realised how much of a drain this guy was on me. He'd ask for advice then counter everything I said. In the end I backed right off and have left him to it. Told him say something, live with it (but I don't want to hear about it) or walk away. Brutal but honest!!!

Today was meant to be a spend day and I was so tempted. Thinking how people on here were raiding freezers and cupboards inspired me when I would have gone out and bought new stuff - especially as a way to cheer myself up. So I dragged a few forgotten tins out the cupboard and freezer, and knocked up a few dishes which should do me a few days. Did some laundry and tidied up - and now feeling really positive.

From today - I'm thankful that my friend taught me a lesson. Be clear about what you want and be prepared to do something about getting it... don't sit there and complain and do nothing. I'm staying focussed on what I want to achieve.

With that in mind I have rejoined the world of dating... putting it out there to the Universe what I would like to attract emotionally as well...

    So... Today = SFD number 3 :D

Off to chill and enjoy (hopefully!) my homemade concoction!!!

Do they still offer Career Development Loans for post grads? I got one for my masters - the gov pays the interest whilst you're on the course and then you can pay it off in full (if you've saved enough by then) or start paying it back with interest (can't remember the rates but probably high) when the course ends. I got one and put it in a savings account as a way of stoozing and then gave it back at the end. Could be a last resort if you can't get bursaries? But only if you will have the money by the end of the course to pay it straight back. Make sure you take care of yourself if you do decide the do FT masters and FT work - I did this and burnt myself out becoming seriously ill, and three years on I don't think I'm totally recovered. (Sorry that sounds gloomy, but I wouldn't feel right not sharing my experience - a masters is really intense, even without work and family xx)

Also, if you're an alumni of the uni where the masters will be they sometimes knock a small amount of money off - but it's not widely advertised and I missed out on it with mine!
