    Evening Turtles

Looks like day 3 is going ok for most. I've read all the posts, and even managed to thank them but if I try and quote I lose the page. So, I apologise now for not quoting.

I've always kind of fancied having an alottment. It comes from growing up in my beloved childhood home with basically a full field allotment behind our house that was ours for a few years. I remember gooseberries and purple broccoli and fantastic bonfires.

SFD today and I think tomorrow will be too. Still don't actually need any good buying, going to make some cheese fajita/wrap type things or work for the next few days.

Lilt Where can i get epsom salts from? I keep looking but can't seem to find any, only radox herbal ones.

Just looked up and seen that I still need to update my signature. Not sure MSE will let me though tonight.

    Keep honing those skills Turtles!

Congratulations on your new allotment plot! I have put in an application for one but who knows when I will actually get a plot. How long did you stay on the waiting list before you got one? Can you not pay on Friday so you won't lose one NSD? Or have Friday as NSD and go shopping on Saturday and pay the allotment. Sorry just being nosey.

No waiting list at all The Only Girl, I was lucky that they were advertising plots available and my Aunt has the one next door so we have it reserved until the office opens on Saturday, unfortunately they are only open Saturday and Sunday. Maybe I should give the money to my Aunt on Thursday and have her pay for it on Saturday lol. Do you think that would count?

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to get a plot soon.

NSD number 2 for me, tomorrow is shopping and bills then Friday should be an NSD.

cybertortoise That would count, because it is a planned budgetted spend.

Do they still offer Career Development Loans for post grads? I got one for my masters - the gov pays the interest whilst you're on the course and then you can pay it off in full (if you've saved enough by then) or start paying it back with interest (can't remember the rates but probably high) when the course ends. I got one and put it in a savings account as a way of stoozing and then gave it back at the end. Could be a last resort if you can't get bursaries? But only if you will have the money by the end of the course to pay it straight back. Make sure you take care of yourself if you do decide the do FT masters and FT work - I did this and burnt myself out becoming seriously ill, and three years on I don't think I'm totally recovered. (Sorry that sounds gloomy, but I wouldn't feel right not sharing my experience - a masters is really intense, even without work and family xx)

Also, if you're an alumni of the uni where the masters will be they sometimes knock a small amount of money off - but it's not widely advertised and I missed out on it with mine!

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I was reading Martin's guide to career development loans yesterday. I only work part time and plan to do lots of overtime over the summer so I can cut back when the course starts. I have worked through my degree and it has been tough and I know the masters will be a bigger workload! Trouble is, I don't think I will be able to save enough to pay it off at the end so it would mean transferring it to a cheaper loan and being back in debt. I am also setting up my own little business, so maybe if that takes off all my money troubles will be over?!!

Oh, and no it's not the same uni - I am in the process of writing a complaint and trying to claim back some of my fees due to the lack of support we have all had from the current one (others are complaining too) and I would not study there again!

shyspender I am loving these lovely emotive quotes! My own sig reminds me a lot of the Rocky Balboa ;) since Royce Gracie is a world renowned martial artist. Always reminds me to stay alert! :D

You can get epsom salts in certain quantities from the local pharmacy, usually food grade. I asked mine and they got me a 5kg box in and charged a very reasonable price for it! I've since upgraded to buying from amazon - I have a 25kg sack under my bed which cost £25 :) Not bad considering 1kg will set you back £9.99 in H&B  and honestly I am already planning my next purchase!!! In fact am off to have a quick shower and an epsom salt soak now as I've clocked up over 16k steps today despite my fitbit dying halfway to work and me having to charge it up for a couple of hours while there!! :D

SFD #2 here :) nothing to report. Have been a good girl and stuck to the diet like glue again :)

    Grateful for:
-Fantastic nursery teachers and their support
-The rush of lovely uplifting hormones that came from a good walk by the sea in the sunshine lifting my spirits after a bad day at work
-An envelope containing all my hopes and dreams with a simple request for a signature. I have an end in sight!!!!!

    Night all! xx

Syn - my FIRE plans are still rather vague! Yep, I know I should plan, plan, plan... First tuing is to be rid of the mortgage - I reckon by the end of 2018 is feasible. Dh has an endowment thingy that matures dec 2019 and will end up being 'play money'. Tis not a huge amount, mimd!

I know some imsist on investing, etc, but I cannot grt my head around that, and the psychological boost of having no mortgage is exciting! We do also have some savings, as our mortgage is offset, so all bemeficial.

Hope that makes sense. Will post now and hope I don-y lose it...

My mum told me she has seen Epsom salts in home bargains for about £3. She said it was a big bag, but not sure of the actual size.
