    Evening Turtles!

Well, how virtuous am I? I turned down the chance of a Chinese meal and evening drink with a visiting friend tonight, claiming I am looking after my WW points and getting some work done, also enabling myself to notch another spend-free day :A

A smidgeon of freelancing work has indeed been done. Plus I have made sure the rhubarb I picked from my garden wasn't going to be wasted and made a rhubarb and ginger upside-down cake. No points left to try a slice tonight though! :(

And then OH calls me from the cinema, where he is sitting as sole audience member waiting to see Mad Max. No, I am not happy!

    1. It's not cheap Tuesday.
    2. What about meeeee? I wanted to see that. Now I can't. He always says, "Oh I'll go and see it again with you." Pfft - my spleen can't cope with the notion of paying to see the same film twice. Ah well... maybe wait until it hits our library and go for the 2 DVDs for a £5 plus free popcorn deal?

Looks like all the cake is mine, then.

    Today I am grateful for:

    1. Cake, and my ownership of said cake.
    2. The library, for being a cheaper option than movies on demand, the cinema, and a better kept open secret than Blockbuster ever was.
    3. Popcorn, for it is low in points!
    Keep reading books!

Wishus -have you tried Netflix? I was using the library for dvd hire. I used to save my loyalty points from hiring books and once you had 6 reciepts you got 1 free dvd hire. But if not it was £2.50 to £3.50 per film. Netflix is £6 per month & you can watch as many films and series as you can get your hands on. I really recommend it. I watched a brilliant original series called Bloodline recently which is about a highly dysfunctional family living in the Florida Keys & has some fantastic acting. Now watching S3 of Orange is the New Black. It has all the Scandinavian dramas that I love, plus lots of blockbusters for OH. There that's my sales pitch done :)

Well I am feeling cheery this morning. Although I almost lost my good mood on coming into work and finding water leaking in from above yet again! The tenant that has the flat above my premises seems to have bathroom issues frequently that result in water coming down my electrical wires and landing on my coffee machine or in today's case where my tablet and card machine live! The water didn't mess them up thank god but I sent a terse message to my landlord that we really have to sort this out!

But still I am back in cheerful form. Main reasons I think are we've made it through another month financially. The last 2 DDS cleared through the account today so I now know nothing else will move until after OH'S payday at month end. I haven't had to KO my EF and have paid all my business bills too. It's been a really hard first half of the month but I am optimistic now that I can keep doing what I'm doing and make a difference.

Managed a small payment of £15 to CC2 this morning which has put me now closer to the next mile stone of £4.5k

It's dead at work today but I still have the good mood. The universe is on my side :)

Hi better mood today, the sun is out.

Friend cancelled on me for my day out in Chester, happy as I will save money and petrol. Might take the day off anyway and explore locally with my hound, seems to have been neglected lately and was snappy at the bunny yesterday, so not like her. Usually cuddled up together.

Bob sure I read on this site somewhere Netflix increasing monthly payment by five pounds? Could be wrong. Sounds a good deal otherwise.

Today will be SFD so happy to report. I do need salad stuff but planned tonights delight - spag bol as grandson loves it.

Shy nice to see you back and in good spirits. I have a chilli plant in my office, forgot to water it, useless with house plants, cut off all the yellow stalks and now flowers and greenery. Never used chilli's off it last time. May start feeding it now still alive.

Welcome back all you holidaymakers, now get back on the treadmill.

Sorted my home insurance out today, Sainburys cheaper and 5000 nectar points, try and build them up for clothes later in the year.

Kat been spotted in Sydney on facebook.

Bob Good news on the party front. Take the deposits immediately !

Going to do another 1hr of inputting and tidy my desk driving me nuts will move the backlog to my other desk lol x

Wishus you cake sounds adorable. Froze some rhubarb so may try making one, love ginger as well. Cake wins over cinema any day.

Still emptying the freezer one drawer down. Decided then going to try and source local fresh food more.

    Have a nice day x

Thanks Calling. I would do if people came into the shop in person but I can take a booking via twitter or Facebook sometimes and then people like to knock an email back and forth before making the final decision. Most enquiries do convert and I have only lost 1 so far this year that said she would pay then didn't. So obviously she didn't get her party either. I find I have to be quite softly softly catchie monkey or it scares them away!
Also, I shouldn't say this as kids parties are part of my revenue but they can work out extortionate! We've had ours in the park the last 2 years. In november :)
So I give a little Lee way....

Hahaha!! Bob I love that you have yours in the park. I went to the seaside when I was about 9-10 with my parents and sister in freezing November. We still got our cossies on and went swimming in the sea for an hour! Came out blue but happy and scrubbed dry then went for fish and chips ;) one of those really good memories, I am sure your little'uns will be the same. Hope the water issue sorts itself out (that your landlord does I mean!)

Yesterday was a spend day, and today too picking up the bits I forgot yesterday :wall: - all good for the week ahead and got some serious bargains on meat which will mean I am covered up to the end of the month :) :money:

My fitbit was stolen yesterday. Amazon say it was delivered. My druggie next door neighbour was doing a great job of telling me he hadn't seen it this morning before 10am, beer in hand, totally off his face. Right up until he volunteered the information that it was an amazon parcel. So thats probably been sold already. I rang Amazon and explained. A bit frightened they wouldn't replace as it was already a replacement but they were really good, have opened a royal mail investigation as I was in all day and didn't get post or a knock all day! He supposedly delivered at 12:20pm! So the new one is going to my place of work. Will need to make time to go in as I am on holiday this week. Am just off to see if I can somehow give instructions to Royal Mail on never leaving parcels with neighbours or on my doorstep. So much has gone missing it is unreal.

Anyways am off to meal plan and research RM.

have a good one all x

Lilt - blimey that is rubbish. I really feel for you having that next door. Horrible. I hope he gets done!!

Loving the November Swimming that's hardcore British right there :) I fear the next generation need more Dunkirk spirit or risk going all wobbly bottom lipped. (Tongue in cheek but barely)

Thanks, Bobarella - until I can persuade OH to go freeview, I shan't be subscribing to Netflix as we already spend too much on TiVo, and I'm already too tempted by what's on terrestrial TV.

I love going to the cinema more than anything really. don't really mind what I watch. And it's nice for it to be a treat.

OH reports it was a waste of time... he didn't enjoy Mad Max after all.

  • Hi all :)Wishus, that's a shame, I saw it at the weekend and thought it was fab! Bit of karma for your OH though I think ;)Samiszel, I can usually get a single spirit and mixer for around £3, depending on where I am (big city I live near, no chance - smaller town where my parents live, quids in!) Shy Spender, I hope you're okay.
Unexpectedly busy day at work today, but it makes the day go faster. Homemade chilli for tea, but really don't want it (using up freezer food ready for batch cooking next weekend) - hoping OH can motivate me when he gets home! Provided I don't send him for takeaway (!!!) today should be a NSD (I will resist!) and, as usual, was LTW and morning exercise (now on level 3 of 3 for the exercise programme I'm doing, it's really kicking me into shape!)

  • Thumbs down for the leaky roof Bob. I do hope your landlord gets it sorted ASAP. I am glad you kept your good mood up. Lilt, sorry to hear about your missing Fitbit but thumbs up to Amazon for sending a replacement for the replacement. ;). My old WW pedometer gave up the ghost too but I haven't got the budget for a Fitbit yet. Another hiccup to report is my £20 going down the drain for a cheap, flimsy, now-in-heap-and-a-mess walk in greenhouse. (I have only myself to blame really coz I should have known better that we get what we paid for). I bought it from bee en em yesterday, DS1 put it up, put my sowing modules and plants in and this afternoon when I woke up from my post-night shift sleep, it has collapsed and will be no good to anyone. Will I be able to get my money back? Not so sure.

On the plus side, I managed to earn NSD no. 11. One of the few advantages of being in bed all day after night shift. It was OH's day off today as well so he managed to clean his fish tanks, do the laundry, clean the kitchen and he cooked a scrumptious homemade chilli con carne. I managed to do a couple of hours' worth of ironing too.
