I have a quick non-money saving expert related question...
I can remember that someone on here has a gluten/wheat allergy or intolerance, possibly even caeliacs disease.
Basically, I went for tests which the doctor said were raised slightly but negative. I have a lot of the symptoms listed but recently I have developed a lot of spots on my face. Not actual spots but more like raised bumps about the size of spots.
I am curious if this is also a symptom of a wheat or gluten intolerance. I have checked out google but it doesn't seem very clear.
Also, I am planning on going wheat free in July and was looking at trying to find a list of foods that I can eat. However, the only list I can find seems to be one that charges £24 a year to access.
It seems like a lot of money for only one month.
Can anyone recommend a website for me to use?? My only other option is to write down everything I eat and whether is contains wheat but that will take a long time to do.
:undecided
Sorry to be a pest and thanks for your help,

Stewby - I'm coeliac. Coeliac disease is associated with several different skin conditions (I have a form of dermatitis on my scalp) but it sounds like you may be gluten/wheat intolerant which again can be associated with other skin issues.
If you want to go wheat/gluten free, you need to decide whether it is gluten or wheat you are ruling out. Gluten is found in other grains like rye and barley, so by being wheat free you are not necessarily being gluten free. Also some products are made with wheat that has had the gluten removed, so they are gluten free but not wheat free. You will need to check every item that you eat as so many have them in, and it's not just the basics like bread, pasta etc but also gravy, sausages, sauces, soy sauce, etc. I'd start with looking on the Coeliac UK website. I used to use an app, where you could type in an ingredient and it'd tell you if it contained gluten, can't remember the name but I'm sure you'd find several on the App Store.
Let me know if you have any other queries. It's not easy to exclude from your diet but there are more alternative products available these days so it is getting easier.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Hi stewby - don't know about the bumps on your face being connected to wheat, but I can suggest a website. It's not aimed at coeliacs but I think it is fab! It'll give you lots of info and ideas: marksdailyapple.com
possibly also coeliac.co.uk - haven't used this even though I really really need to join, of only for dd's sake!
Because coeliac disease means avoiding not only wheat, but oats, barley and rye too, the list of what to avoid is pretty long, as the immune system reacts to even traces of the grains mentioned. But those with an intolerance can consume small amounts.
Am pretty sure I got my initial info from google searches: list of gluten-free foods, or something similar. And then read around. Maybe your library has a useful book?
Basically, everything that is processed (comes in a box or bag) might be contaminated! Meat, fish, dairy, fruit + veg (yep, I know, they are not your fave!), nuts in their natural state are fine.
Planning a month gluten-free is a great idea - but really does need careful planning, as it can slip in everywhere and even small amounts can have an effect.
Hope this helps x Good luck!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Spendy day yesterday, so still only at 1 NSD. Will probably be a spendy day today, as taking my nan to birmingham for her birthday treat. On the bright side, spent all morning moving my direct debits for my new job, so a productive morning so far.
Happy weekend everyone!Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

Good Morning,
Since my last post I have achieved 2 more SFD, easy when you leave your purse at home.:) Woke up this morning feeling good, last few days has been a struggle to get out of bed,so going to take advantage of my renewed energy and tidy the garage. Loads of rubbish in there that needs to go to the local tip.
Also need to do a small shop, created a meal plan from freezer and cupboards, need some fresh things, especially milk,as I have just used the last drop.
Have been reading all the posts,on my phone while in work, hugs to those who need them. I buy salt in Home Bargains £2.50 for a 1kilo I think, helps with my itchy skin.
Have a good day all.:)

Morning everyone!
Just said a last goodbye to my ex after finally getting the last of the money he owed me from the flat we shared earlier this year. When it all went to the wall we agreed to pay off all the outstanding bills together... With that money, and some I saved - I just made the final payment on my credit card, meaning...
I am now DEBT FREE <again>!!!Today is totally the close of one chapter and the start of a new one... My challenge now is to stay debt free, and not slip back like I did last time... I plan on staying around and sticking to a budget... and set new goals... The first of which is to save £500 in my Emergency Fund.
Have an amazing day everyone!!!
