Did you live with your husband/wife before marriage?

I got a kitten instead of a ring. My husband knows me well.
( I did get a ring later but HE lost it...long boring story) but really its not so unusual. My mother had been married three times and had no engagement ring from those, just wedding rings. She was engaged a few more times, had a couple of rings, obviously gave them back....0 -
I didn't have an engagement ring until 2 weeks after we decided to get married and had already booked the registrar and venue within that time.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

I'd have loved a kitten instead!

. We went back and got her sister, so we got two in the end. :rotfl: its been far more rewarding than a ring. Though probably more expensive too.
. They are getting older now and I can hardly cope thinking of life without them:o. 0 -
I don't have an engagement ring or a wedding ring. They're entirely optional.0

:rotfl: I don;t really wear jewelry so a cat would be a better option! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We moved in together after seeing each other for a year, lived together for 2 years and then got married.
We divorced 16 (almost 17) years later.
If we had waited, I think we would have been divorced within the first year! We very almost split up in the first year of moving in together but a health scare brought us back together. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Yes, we lived together. Never actually intended to marry.
I think it takes a lot of energy to live with me, so it would be quite cruel to someone to marry them without them getting a chance to experience the whole Tropez-thing in advance. They have to know they can tolerate it first.0 -
I lived with my husband before we got married, but I know plenty of people my age (early 30s) who moved out from their parents after getting married. Some of them lived away from home at the university, but some studied in the same city where their lived, so they stayed with their parents through uni and sometimes even the first job. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
We met in 1986, engaged 1988, did not move in or even sleep together until our wedding in 1990. We are Christian and believed in waiting until marriage. 25 years later we have 3 daughters and if they wanted to move in with their partners we would be supportive, but as "old fashioned" would still like a wedding first
