  • Not sure if anyone can help. My brother has applied to Lloyds TSB to reclaim his PPI as I did mine and was successful. He has just had a letter saying they will not refund the PPI paid but will cancel the PPI for the last 3 years of the loan plus as a good will gesture they will give him an additional amount. This totals about £2700 but this will be taken off the loan not given to him like I did mine. Do you think it is worth him taking the next step and not accepting this? It seems like they are partly accepting mis-selling but not going the whole hog to refunding what has been paid over the last 4 years. Any advice would be good.

    Hi there
    Well done on your success.

In regards of your brother's I take it he has no arrears, apart from the loan still running?
If no arrears, you could write a letter to request they refund directly to your brother, if this is what they done for you and its the same bank I can't see why not.;)

Good luck, please let us know how he gets on.;)

  • Thanks for the congrats. I was very happy. Managed to clear my credit card, overdraft and pay off my car.

He has no arrears. In fact his case is the same as mine apart from the letters have come from difference people. We think Lloyds changed there insurance provider and this might be the problem. He is still following the matter though as recommend on this site.

    Your very welcome.;)
    Its fab news that.

I think its worth writing a letter then just to ask if this is the way he wants to be refunded.
Yes its a possibility then if they changed insurance providers.

There have still been success with reclaims going back as far as the 90's, so just as long as you have your account numbers, then that is fine to make a reclaim.
I would definately give it a go.;)

    Good Morning All,

Firstly let me say, I am so happy I found this site.

I took out a Personal Loan in 2005 with Natwest, when I was a rather more naive 24 year old man. I was actually called in for a Financial Review, which resulted in me being sold a loan, to refinance an existing loan and then also encouraged to "top it up" a little to qualify for a lower APR!!! PPI was also included, as the Sales Guy actively encourage me to take it to ensure application success.

Basically I had a sales job done on me and have realised for a while that not at any point were the bank acting in my best interests - this site has stirred me into action!

I repaid the loan early in 2009. Letter sent today, so I will let you know how I get on!!! I have also written to MBNA asking for a copy of my credit agreement. The CC I had with them was the scurge of my life for a number of years, with huge repayments - I also paid this off early last year and I am seeking to reclaim money from them also.

Thanks again, I'll keep you posted!!
  • Hi All,

Thank you for having a wonderful site.

I had a loan from Yorkshire Bank and my PPI was mis-sold by them. They told me that I would have to have PPI to qualify for the loan. This was in 2003. I downloaded Martin's template letter, filled it in and sent it off. Got the usual standard response.... then I wrote to the Financial Ombudsman. They ruled in my favour! I am now waiting for £4,508 to be refunded to my account.

    Thank you Money Saving Expert!
