    Hi all

A while back I stuck a post on here or somewhere querying if anyone had sucessfully claimed back overdraft ppi from Barclays. Result!

Barclays have refunded me charges that equate to £1200 from the past six years. They wouldn't admit liability but who cares as they have refunded me.

I do have a dilemma here though. I don't wish to seem greedy, but they did not refunded any interest charges. Do I go after them for this? They have siad that they won't enter any further correspondence so I would have to go to the FOS and at the same time I don't want to jepordise my loan ppi claim I have with them. If the interest is 8% it may be worth leaving, but any thought?

    Cheers

    Putty

Hi well done on this Putty i really dont know about this ,as the wait for fos is so long would it be worth it ? Sunny

    Thanks Di & Sunny

I suppose I could go to the FOS and I would have to do nothing whilst it sits with them, but then you can be too greedy.

I think I'll hold out for the loan ppi with them and then go after them for the personal reserve fees.

Any one had any luck reclaiming these fees?

MBNA are proving difficult though. Any swift ways to sort them?

    Cheers Putty

Your welcome Putty, you do what you feel is right, but yes I agree with you, good luck and well done.;)

In regards of the fees, I would post on the Card charges thread here, to keep this part of it separate from the PPI reclaiming.

Good luck with these as well.;)

  • I have recently completed my claim against LloydsTSB for PPI misselling. I was "pressurised" into a loan over 4 years ago. I remember quite clearly most of the conversation, and still can't understand how I came to agree to the terms. However since then I have complained about account charges ( the bank employee forgot to tell me that I couldn't have an overdraft whilst I had the loan!) and received about £1000 back for that. Using MSE's template I complained about the PPI, along the same lines as the bank charges situation, and recently received over £3500 back from the bank. The loan was for £13K+ over 7 years. I was very surprised when Lloyds agreed with my claim straight away so I didn't have to resort to the FSA.

  • Mine is obviously is a success story:-)

here are the hard facts to start with
    • What were you reclaiming: two loans and two credit cards
    • Who was the provider: 1 loan and credit card from lloyds TSB and 1 loan and credit card from EGG
    • How much did you get back: £just under 7000Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: We've got money from the banks after asking just once (apart from Lloyds Loan, they have refused to pay PPI on it back to us but offered to cancel it and reduce our loan amount which we've agreed with)
And then write your brief reclaim tale
I first heard about PPI claims from a friend of mine who herself considered claiming it back. She though was contacted by an agency (not even the solicitors) so was paying the agency and solicitors to claim PPI for her.

I have researched the internet (but not well enough as I found out later) and it became clear to me that there is no reason to pay any agencies but if I wanted to I could contact a solicitor (I didn't believe that I could claim it myself successfully) So we contacted a solicitor.
It took them couple of month to start doing something (a day they've submitted our claims I found out that I could have done it myself - I found all the templates here!) Anyway - banks came back to us within a month after the first letter sent by solicitors and paid back loads of money that we now used to reduce the outstanding loans:-)

The only downside is - we had to pay 25% of the sum paid to us to our solicitors:-( oh well... still way better than if I haven't done it at all:-0
and in the process of claiming these 4(!) PPIs I have found out that my husband had another two(!) So in total he had 6(six!!!) PPIs! now all of them have been cancelled -

total saving: £7000 + £75 a month for another two PPIs
Buying - Spending - Paying Off
Blogging my way out of debt
