PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I cannot thank this site enough. I used the template letter in hope to reclaim my PPI from Egg on my loan with them. I sent the letter on Wednesday and this morning I received a letter back from Egg. I half knew it was going to be about my claim and was expecting a huge rejection. Imagine my suprise when I started to read the letter and they are refunding £3,075 direct to my bank account!!!!
I've been crying tears of joy for the last hour, that money will pay off another existing debt I have but also allow me my first holiday in 4 years. Finally debt free and able to enjoy a holiday away with my friends. This year is going to be the best yet.
Good luck to everyone else reclaiming, I hope you have the same success as I.0 -
- What were you reclaiming: Credit Card
- Who was the provider: Barclaycard Visa
- How much did you get back: £744
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: First letter & their questionnaire
- Brief reclaim tale
I noticed PPI reclaiming in one of MSE's newsletters last year, then did nothing for months.
Finally got around to applying for refunds (31 Oct 2009) from 5 CCards and 1Loan.
Wrote first letters to various companies.
Received various replies, BCard sent me a questionnaire to complete.
Returned completed questionnaire, received a number of "we're continuing our investigation letters" from BCard.
Today (16 Jan 2010) got final response from BCard offering full refund + interest, as they couldnt find enough evidence to say that ppi had been sold fairly. - Thankyou so much Martin and MSE'ers. This was the tip of a big iceberg, look-out capital one, MBNA and Natwest!:T
Successfully reclaimed PPI:
Barclaycard Visa = £744 | Natwest Loan = £1,146 | MBNA Visa = £643 | MBNA MCard = £279 | Natwest MCard = £62 | Marbles MCard = £302
Still chasing: Capital One0 - What were you reclaiming: Credit Card

Hi
My mother took out a loan 4 years ago with Barclays, was retired at the time, hasn't a clue about money and was sold PPI (the loan was for 7 years). It all came to light a few months ago when she admitted she was in trouble, financially.
I made a PPI complaint to Barclays in October (for my mother), handed the letter to the personal banker who I now think did nothing with it as I had to send another letter at the end of November to chase them up. This time recorded delivery. Shortly after she got a questionnaire to complete, which I did around Xmas time.
Result today £6700 lovely pennies refunded to her bank account with a letter sort of admitting defeat but who cares, money refunded including 4 years statutory interest!
All it took was one simple complaint letter and job done. I used the template from here so thank you and I now have one in with Barclaycard.
Cheers everyone, happy days :TBR 12th August 2009
