(Bespoke have already given their final response) She said that their insurance sales people did not have to have any training at all in that all the paperwork was sent out and nothing was discussed by them to us. She actually said that. I then asked her to repeat what she had said and she then said that nothing was ever explained to us only by documents sent out. I asked for the name of the person that actually sold us the insurance and she said they no longer worked for them. I then was told that Firstplus were happy with the sales people and that was who they answered to (she said there was no law and that anyone can sell inurance). I then told her to repeat what she had said again for purpose of the tape (i told her i was taping the phone call as i needed to listen again to what was said) and she said that i was not allowed to tape a conversation without her permission. I was not really taping but she annoyed me so much with her cocky attitude. She then said that she would not talk or repeat anything as i had said what i had and i asked her why if what she was saying was true. She then said she would terminate that phone call after i said to her that she had dropped herself right in it.
Where do i stand now. What is my next step here. Loan in 2000 through firstplus and using brokers Freedom Finance and then they say they were working for Bespoke Finance in Gibraltar. I am losing sleep over this now.

thanks
Were you asked what your sick pay was? Does the deferred period on your policy match your sick pay. IE if you have 3 months full pay, does the policy kick in after 3 months or does it kick in after 30 days?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. So freedom were the acting agents for bespoke finance who arranged the loan through first plus?

That is correct as they say
Only us by the look of it. I have asked for this information until i am blue in the face and i have a copy here and there are no signatures from any of them. All they say is it was freedom finance and that i need to take it up with Bespoke who are based in gibraltar.
I got told yesterday by Freedom that they advertised on teletext at the time and i rang a number from there and that i took it out over the phone and then all documents were sent by post (including the ppi,) and that i should of read them and then signed. They say that there was no law that they had to explain anything to us.0 -

Apparently i spoke to the fos yesterday with regard to the ppi and the person i spoke to said that there was really nothing i could do about mine as it was in the year 2000 and bespoke were not any member of anything. I WILL find something i can have them on. Surely they should of been in some kind of organisation to sell insurance. Its causing me trauma now and if anyone can help then please reply. I have had a reply and final response from Bespoke (Freedom passed it to them) and they say "tough" virtually.
I have posted some stuff today on the reclaiming Part 2 discussion on the other page... there is an act called the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, which should have some relevance, as someone has said that LLoyds solicitors have quoted this in a letter to them, it said stuff about watching those who are unregulated and making sure they abide by certain rules, ie, not giving misleading information etc.
Also there was FISA before FSA and the GISC, dont allow them to fob you off, off course they have to be accountable to someone, its ridiculous isnt it, it makes me so angry.
M....why dont you send an email to audra@fisa.co.uk and ask if they came under them in 2000.
I have posted a link on the other discussion for the FISA code of practice.0 -

It was strange the way they did things, I remember myself ...phoning up to enquire about a loan after seeng the First Plus ad on the telly (B****y Carol Vorderman!) back in 2002, yet when I rang the number off that ad it was Freedom Finance who set up the loan and added the PPI , yet it was First National Bank who were the lenders (who have since become GE Home Finance) Confusing for anyone!!!
Now, I had originally sent my complaint to the lender who told me it was the person who sold the loan that was accountable ie, the broker FF.0 -

I am not too familiar with the process of just trying to claim back the PPI as you are doing on here but what is clear from the posts that I have read is that you are finding that lenders are doing what they do best. They are trying to make it as difficult for you as possible because they know that you will either give up, accept less than you should or if you are resilient enough, they will have kept their money in their pockets for longer. To those who have been resilient, well done but you have potentially let these people get away with bribery and as a result cost yourself more money by not allowing them to get away with answering a small part of a bigger argument.
It is to my understanding that anybody that has a loan with any company where lumpsum PPI has been sold, you should be claiming for a lot more than what you are.
The fact is that First National or GE Money will not have been the company insuring you and they have committed a form of bribery in giving you this PPI. You are entitled to bring this to their attention and request that they start acting within the laws of this land.
Relying on the fact that mere mortals like you and me who have limited powers and knowledge, we are easy to deflect complaints, use fancy legal terms and laws which detract from the real issues. I would down pens and start putting experts onto these people who will actually be able to hit them where it hurts and give you the satisfaction that you are looking for. This all without the stress too.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Big up to MSE.
took out a loan for £7k with the AA (via bank of scotland) a couple of years ago. i specifically asked NOT to have PPI on it, yet they still added it on without me noticing.
I worte to them using the form letter about a month ago, to which i got a couple of letters saying they were looking into it, and then one saying an offer will be made shortly.
today i got a letter saying i will be getting the full £1071.16 back in my account in the next 7 days, and my payments will be dropping to the proper amount as of this month.
nice! so now i'm £40+ a month better off as well as having a lump sum back to pay off some other debts. sweeeeet0
