Marbles296 wrote: »Hi, I wrote to HSBC to reclaim PPI on a loan taken out 5 years ago... it took 5 minutes to download the standard letter on here and I emailed HSBC with the letter. Two weeks later I had an email offering me 2300 as a refund. Good but it wasnt the full amount. Banksscare me so I accepted their first offer.
also have been mis-sold PPI on my credit card but am finding it much more difficult. They have not kept any record of the telephone conversation between me and the salesman who sold me the card... so I am not really sure that I can take things any further... but I have been lied to by them as I called them on Friday to see what progress they had made with the claim, only to be told that they dont have the records. I then received the next day a letter saying that they had investigated my claim in full and that they can find NO EVIDENCE that I was mis-sold... and when I rang them to find out what was going on they told me they did have the records, only to confirm 15 minutes into the call that they didnt (!?) so actually they havent found any evidence full stop.
Finally within a week of them receiving my PPI reclaims they have downgraded my Premier account and if I want to keep the benefits then I have to pay 40 quid a month... bit of a coincidence!
Has anyone had any similar experiences? Would love to hear.
Hi Marbles - over on the discussion forum there's loads of people who can help you with this. My understanding is that under the Mis-Representation Act they have to prove that they didn't mis-sell this cover to you i.e. it is not down to you to prove they did mis-sell. If they can't produce any records then you're in a strong position!MSE - The Stig0 -
I sent the second letter to Direct Auto Finance, and having read items on this forum about them, I thought I was in for a fight, and court action.
Recieved a letter yesterday, 29th, admitting no liability, but as a gesture of goodwill they will write off the balance of the loan, amounting to over £700, I'll accept this as I am fed up of dealing with these people, and their heavy tactics.
Thank you Martin, for inspiring me to make a claim, and I hope others do not lose heart.

- Reclaiming: interest on a loan

Was mis- sold as was informed over the phone that the policy would cover both myself and partner but the policy only applied to me, which I didnt need as i have adequate cover through employers.
Sent a letter to A & L and was knocked back at first.
They denied I had received verbal advice as it was an internet application. We did actually receive a phonecall after the internet application as we were new customers and they wanted to check the details.
I wrote back to them and told them I was not satisfied that their investigations were thourough as if they were, they would have discovered we had received a call. I asked them to send me a copy of all the information they held on this loan account and which they had used to make their "decision" and if i was not satisfied i would go to the ombudsman.
I received a leter bout a week after his offereing us all of our premiums back (£800). Thought about asking for the interest back too as it was a single premium policy but decided to take the cash and run. This has taken about 3 - 4 weeks, still waiting for the money at the moment but only agreed to the offer last week.

Reclaiming: PPI on a loan 2002
Provider: Cahoot
How much did you get back: £442 which included 8% interest
Sent standard letter and got a response 3 weeks later saying they're (abbey) looking into it. Got a reply less than 2 weeks later offering me £442 as a settlement
I took out the loan online and the guy said that in the letter and that I didn't speak to anyone yet he couldn't be sure I was given enough info hence the refund

Reclaiming: ppi from 3 loans
Provider: HSBC
How much get back: £4,578.08p
sent the first letter of which got a letter back 3 weeks later saying they are looking into the matter, phoned them up after the 40 day periode saying I was on verge of sending 2nd letter but they explainned on phone there is a long backlog of ppi claims and to just wait a week or 2.
Got back from a real crap day at work to find letter from hsbc saying' in order to find this matter has not disadvantaged you in anyway we propose to offer you a total amount of 4,578.08'
so im very pleased, but im slightly concerned also, coz obviously they refunding what we paid so far to date, but if they put the total ppi on top of the loan doe's this mean they have to recalculate the loan also which should bring the cost of my original loan down also?HSBC bank charges .... on hold
Halifax bank charges .... on hold
HSBC PPI reclaim .... £4,578.08
HFC PPI reclaim .... no available ppi to reclaim!
Littlewoods PPI reclaim .... letter in awaiting reply!0
