Thanks
Used the template to start with but Egg firmly told me to go away! They found a copy of the phone call where I had taken out the loan so I asked for a copy. I received a CD in the post but when I listened to it, it was blank! I then referred to the FOS back in October 07 and finally got a reply last week. EGG will dig their heels in so if you feel that you have a strong case then go for it but I found it a long process. I took my loan out in 2004 so I couldn't remember what exactly was said but I do remember not being given an option of the PPI. I will post how much I get back from them. Good Luck!

Did you have to go all the way to the FOS to get anything from them? I have sent my template letter some time ago, and just recieved the "go to hell" one back from them saying I choose it, also with a cd. However on the CD, it is obvious that they didn't explain the cover and when the letter arrived there was no quote for the loan without the PPI. Do I have a case? They also make no mention of the second top-up loan I got a year later.
The loans are all paid off now (early, in fact) but am livid with the thought of how much money I gave those Egg fatcats.0 -
I have a policy with Paragon. They say if I ditch the PPI I will get a rebate of 5%-9%. If I accept this can I then get the rest of the monies back on a misell of policy or will this pultry settlement figure (hardly fair one feel on an 18 month old loan) be my only recourse? I wouldn't mind so much but we are talking about nearly £11,000....
This is the only bloody time I've taken up these insurance offers, but guess what I tallied just the people in our small office (7 people and 4 of us have been stung...outrageous)0 -
Anyone had any result with Barclaycard?
i want to try and claim back the ppi on my gf's card
Cheers

After doing my payment review with the CCCS recently I mention PPI reclaiming; they said that PPI can not be taken when a DMP is in effect and to immediately request refund! Now I'm unsure of the reason why PPI is 'ineffective' whilst on a DMP, maybe someone here does???
After bringing this to Egg's attention ~2 weeks ago they phoned today and told me they were refunding the full amount paid during the 3 year period I've been paying off my debt through the CCCS (~£1500!).
One thing I forgot was to request 8% interest, can I do this after accepting verbally over the phone please?????!?!!?
So if you are on a DMP with CCCS etc. I strongly advise you to check that you have not been paying PPI on any of your debts!!!!
Hope this helps, and answers to my questions will be very much appreciated!

This could be happening to a lot of people in a similar situation, and I've never heard that PPI in a DMP is 'wrong'; should I re-post as a new subject to make it easier to find??? Just a thought.0

Hi Darth_C,
I just wondered if you were already following the process of reclaiming the PPI or if you only found out you could claim a refund after getting CCCS involved?
I was attempting to get PPI reclaimed from 2 of my creditors but as I had to write to tell them I could only make a goodwill payment due to my financial situation, I thought it best to put the reclaim on hold. I was mis-sold and so do believe that I should get the money back, but felt it might affect my credibility with my creditors if I dealt with the 2 issues simultaneously.

Hey Help48x
I had only this year requested bank charges from Lloyds and copy of statements from Lloyds Mastercard (no contact with EGG re. charges). I had similar concerns, but the worst they could do is refer debt to collection agencies- which is actually no bad thing as all interest is frozen! CCCS themselves couldn't comment on this, so I just thought 'what's the worst that they could do?!?! It may be worth asking forum member CCCS_Sarah, but she may or may not be able to comment.
Good luck, and keep us all updated as there isn't a whole lot of info on this area!0 -

That sounds a lot like my case. I wasn't given the option of refusing the PPI and wasn't told how much it would cost if I didn't take it. The FOS agreed that it wasn't explained at all that it was optional. I would say go for it you have got nothing to lose. The FOS are the best route with Egg as they will look at it objectively and fairly and it sounds like Egg have already given you their final response. Good luck...post your progress!0 -

It does actually tell you in your terms and conditions that the insurance is void if you go into arrears etc. This is the wording from mine -
'the insurance will end immediately when the loan agreement terminates if you enter into an Individual Voluntary Agreement in respect of your debts or your indebtedness is transferred to another person' (ie debt collection).
If you are paying reduced payments etc then the ppi SHOULD automatically be stopped by the company.0
