What were you reclaiming: HSBC Graduate loan PPI
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £1900
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter and a few phone calls.
And then write your brief reclaim tale

My husband and I took out a graduate loan back in 2003. We were told by the bank that taking the ppi would help our claim. We had never had a loan before and so agreed. We were not told exactly how much it was or that we could look elsewhere. Also we were not told that it only covered one of us- me. This in itself was useless as i work in the NHS and have good sick pay and also have many pre-existing conditions, whereas my husband (who wasn't covered) worked in the private sector with no sick pay and no medical conditions. So basically I would probably not have needed to claim and if i did it would prob not work due to my medical history. My husband was not covered at all.

I wrote one letter in sept this year using martins template. After 8 weeks had heard nothing so phoned HSBC. They gave me the name and direct line of the lady handling my claim. She was able to tell me a date by which i would have a decision and was very helpful. She said to phone her today for the decision as with the xmas post we would not hear for a few days. The complaint has been upheld and we are getting back all our payments so far plus 8% interest. They are also restructuring the remaining year and a half on the loan at the same terms and conditions. This means we will save a further £44 a month which is a lot to us.

I am sooo happy and relived that it was all so straightforward. HSBC were actually very helpful on the phone. Should have the money by 2nd week in january! Means we can relax a bit now and enjoy a lovely xmas.

Thank you to Martin and all the posters on here who encouraged me to go for it!:j

This is great :T:T Well done:j:j and Congratulations.

I know everyone are entitled to give an opinion but to call posters that.......!And to wish people to be made redundant !
This have happened unfortunately to many - and yet the claims still do not pay out!
In many cases of why people have reclaimed, what is the point of them paying out for PPI if it's not going to pay out?

It's not just the responsibility of the customers, I just wish I could post some documents on here that was left within a SAR of how we were treated (you see there was that much of it for them to go through before sending this out to us, there were comments made, which they obviously forgotten to take out from the bulk lol), mind you it helped big time in the end, but what was on them was VERY uncalled for?

    Very unprofessional indeed!

I hope you all get made redundant, if half of you morons listened to the calls that took place when you applied for your loans and/or read the paperwork you signed you'd know you agreed to the cover in the first place, but tell you what why don't you all just keep mindlessly applying for money back that you agreed to use towards covering your loan and see how many large companies you can force into being nationalised and smashing the smaller companies into the ground, top work, I love that you can't even write the letter's yourselves you have to copy them from this gimp/Jeremy Kyle wannabe, what sort of person treats the day the bank charges decision was anounced as one of the most imprtant days of his life. Stop mindlessly asking for money back and take resposibilty for your own actions!

Thank you for your comments-these have been noted. May your balls fester up and drop off soon.

    Merry christmas
