Wrote on here a few weeks ago about my Sainsbury's Credit Card - had no response from anyone!
I had a card from 2003 until April 2007 when I paid off the balance. In Nov 2007 I received a letter from them stating I owed PPI from April until Nov. I replied saying I had closed my account, but they wrote back stating it was up to me to cancel the insurance seperatley.
I then sent off a copy of Martins template. Two more letters followed saying they were looking into things. Received a letter this morning saying they could not find any evidence that I had agreed to PPI and a cheque would follow !!
Thankyou

We took out a personal loan with HSBC 5 years ago and were lead to believe that it was essential that we took PPI. We had queried this on a number of occasions over the years and have asked if we can cancel this, to be told that no, we can not.
After reading your article I used your template letter quoting our reasons for claiming as being mis sold the protection and the fact that it only covered my partner anyway and not me. We received a fairly swift response from HSBC which resulted in us receiving approx £7800!!! :j This was to refund all PPI payments plus interest!!
Thank you Martin!! an easy, painless process!!:T0 -
I have received a call from the FSO today regarding a loan I took with the HSBC, back in December 2005. The HSBC, never replied to my second letter, which is the reason I then went to the FSO. They have advised me today that they have received an e-mail from HSBC, stating that they uphold my complaint,(horrraaayyyy) and that they will refund my insurance payments plus 8% and re-schedule the loan. I have not received notification from the HSBC, regarding their offer (which I find v.odd). I have asked the FSO lady, who was very friendly and easy to deal with, whether the refund is taken from the loan, and if the loan is rescheduled is it a the current APR, or the APR, from when the loan was taken out. She has advised that she will contact them for me to establish this, but seemed to be of the opinion that it should be at the original APR, can anyone clarify this please? I will keep any updates posted, and for those considering going through the FSO, I would urge them to do so. It has taken a couple of months but I don't think that I would have received this result on my own.0

Me and my boyfriend recently sent a letter claiming for some insurance he had set up and was paying for a mortgage he never actually set up. We sent the letter to lloyds TSB and last week we received a letter saying we were getting £567.00 back!!!!
RESULT!!!! We are currently waiting to hear from Morgan Stanley with regards to an insurance premium which we come across when sorting out his credit card charges!!!! This was coming off his credit card statement which he never noticed in the past and does not even know what it is for!0 -
Who was the provider: DFS
How much did you get back: £340
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Court Action
Bought sofas in 2001 from DFS who were using Nova Finance at the time. Salesman did not explain policy to us, just rushed it all through. Did not even realise it until after discovering this site and checking all my documents. Am self employed with guaranteed income so policy would have been useless to me.
Sent first letter, had a rude phone call from the branch and then follow up "no" letter.
Sent 2nd letter, got another "no" letter and they referred me to FOS.
FOS sent back as they could not do anything did not come under them at the time.
Hummed and haaaed for a few weeks, but Saturday I decided to bite the bullet and do the forms MCOL.
Hubby had phone call today and they are sending a cheque in full! Hope Lloyds TSB are as obliging (did MCOL for them at same time!
Thanks for all help from other posters for advice and encouragement.
BIG, BIG thanks to Martin too! You are my hero :money: :beer:PPI Reclaimed -

I have just received a settlement for PPI mis-sold on a personal loan.
I complained on the basis that they had told me that the loan decision would depend on me taking the cover and that I was already covered for sickness by my employers pension scheme.
They immediately offered to repay all of the premiums paid plus the interest I had been charged on the policy. I didn't accept on the basis that I had also suffered interest at 9.9% on the associated loan that would have been repaid sooner without the insurance payments.
I have now accepted their offer to repay all of the premiums and interest paid plus interest of 8%. This means that my loan is repaid ten months early and I receive £740 cash!
Their original offer was written in such a way that I would have agreed to take a new loan and receive a cash repayment. I tried to arrange for the offer to settle my existing loan with the staff at my branch but this was fruitless and very frustrating. Eventually I had to write to the complaints department and make it clear to them that I didn't want another loan.
I would suggest that anyone in a similar position asks for interest when they make their initial complaint and makes it clear how they would like to be refunded in writing.0 -
jimmyjames wrote: »Just had letter back from Egg saying that I applied online and was therfore not mis-sold.
Has anyone had any experience of this and does anybody have any information as to whether the boxes contained on the application form were pre checked/ticked?
All help massively appreciated. I cannot find anyy reference to a similar situation after searching this forum.
Cheers

Hi there. I'm sorting out reclaims for my Dad and he has just had the same letter from Egg. As I recall when he made the application online, he had to tick the PPI box for the application to continue.
However, Egg say that the PPI is clearly optional, and has never been marketed as a condition of getting the credit.
This is their final response, so I guess its off to the Ombudsman now :rolleyes:LBM November 2005: approx £32K :eek:Current debt: approx £12K :TGetting there one day at a time0 -
Claimed back PPI on M & S & More credit card
£26.67 credited to my account- it was principle rather than the money!
Claimed on basis that when I was sent the & More card in Oct 03 I did not ask for PPI to be added. I did not notice it until the following year when I cancelled the PPI.
Only took a couple of letters and around 8 weeks.
Am currently helping sister in law claim PPI from M & S and Picture Loans

Just received a payment into my bank from the Halifax for £2871.79 after I claimed for a mis-sold insurance on a loan. They didn't even tell me I was getting the money, just paid it back into my bank with no reference number. All I had to do was fill in the form provided by Martin on line... really easy. Just had to wait 4 months for the money. Brilliant!! Don't hesitate to do it.0
