Hi all just wanted to let everyone know how we got on with HFC. Wrote to them on 4th sept asking for refund on 2 exisiting loans and 1 old one, 3 weeks later letter offering £1586.89 (inc of 8% interest)!! The only thing we found annoying was they rescehduled loans costing £192.00 however we called and said we were clearing the two existing with the refund. In order not to have to pay the £192.00 we had to lend £1104.00 of family to clear first and then refund was given meaning we still have £482.00 left! fantastic really pleased with this. Anyone claiming from HFC and clearing existing loan be aware they reschedule without asking so call them and advise this is not what you want. They were a bit arsey but hey we have NO dealings with them anymore!!

    Well done to you, Congratulations.

May I ask on the year(s) you actually taken out the loans? cheers.;)

  • Well done everyone! Some great stories. I'm still waiting for details of the figure that Sainsburys have agreed to refund me after going through the FOS. That was about 6 weeks ago, but apparently a cheque has been ordered and will be with me 'soon'. Still don't know the figure that will be on it though!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

  • They are indeed - it's been about 2 years since I sent my first letter to Saisnburys about this too. Feels like forever, but at least now I ahve something in agreement saying that they have agreed to repay premiums plus contract interest and simpe interest at 8%. I've worked out what I think it is, so I'll be interested to see what they send me!

    Hi everyone

I took out a loan with Nationwide in 2007, I was made to believe that if I did not take out the PPI then the loan would be rejected. I cancelled the PPI a few months later and received a cheque for the premiums not used but the interest was not returned and is still included in the total loan amount. I am having financial difficulties at the moment and all my debts (including the loan) are being handled by the Citizens Advice Bureau, can I still claim that the PPI was mis-sold and get the interest charged back?
Thank you pinknico, I will start the ball rolling and hopefully it will help with my debts

Congragulations Snapdragon - it's a great feelin isn't it! The light is really at the end of the tunnel for you both now - debt free in 5 months time fantastic. What a lovely supportive wife you are as well if you don't mind me saying. £15500 must have seemed like a huge mountain to climb but now you just have that last wee hill - good luck to both of you & well done

Thanks for your kind words. Let me tell you it was a huge shock to find out about the debt. I'm always very careful with money and have never taken out a loan or spent anything I didn't have so I was completely overwhelmed to begin with. Hubby was worried about telling me as he knew how much I hate debt and he didn't want to worry me so I found out when he mistakingly left a bank statement out. Needless to say he knows now that honesty is the best policy and this whole experience has brought us closer in the end.
  • Hi folks,

    Quick recap on my situation.

Have a Marbles credit card (now operated by MBNA), which i successfully got the PPI refund from this week for the duration of MBNA's ownership of my account.

So, I just have to claim for the time from 2003 - Sept 2008 when my card was with Marbles.

MBNA said they forwarded my letter onto Marbles, but I think i'd rather write to them separately.

Has anyone had a response from Marbles, and does anyone know which address I should write to?

The other worry is that my account number is bound to have changed since the switch to MBNA.

I'm assuming I could call Marbles and get all this info from them first?

    Any help would be great!
