After reading this website, we rang Alliance & Leicester due to being mis-sold PPI on two loans we had with them, both loans are for 6k over 4 years, we were told they would look into our claim and get back to us within 3-4 weeks.

We have just heard back from them about one loan, only taken 2-3 weeks and they have offered us a refund of £802, we are happy to accept this amount and would like to say without this website we wouldnt have known where to start so thank you very much.

Now just waiting to hear about my other loan.

What were you reclaiming: Credit Card PPI
Who was the provider: Sainsburys Bank Plc
How much did you get back: All premiums plus contract interest plus 8% interest
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: FOS and a long wait!

Most importantly, this has since been agreed shortly after the FOS told me that my complaint was outwith their timescales for considering complaints. So, if you're unsuccessful but believe yourself to be right, persist and ensure that you make your complaint!

I've done my calculations and know what they owe me to correct this error, but £800 in premiums from 2002, plus contractual interest of 19% and 8% statutory interest is a tidy enough sum.

I'm so relieved this is almost over. It has taken so long - throughout the dispute, Sainsburys continued to pursue me for me, despite the ongoing dispute that I had with them. I sought advice from Tradings Standards (who knew less about consumer legislation than I did!), and clarification from the FSA on points of law. In the end, I felt reasonably confident that I had the paperwork to back up my case, and it just needed a breakthrough from the other side. The continued pursuance of monies by Sainsburys while they had failed to respond to my letters advising of their being a dispute, caused untold stress. Thankfully it is all over now - ALMOST!

My forms have been signed, returned and I await contact from Sainsburys advising me of the sum they believe they owe me. Hopefully it's reflective of my figures.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: Everything! £1650!
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter

Egg mis-sold me PPI in 2003.

I wrote to complain in 2007, they said no.
I wrote again to complain after reading the MSE guide on reclaiming, they said no.
I wrote back again in 2008 and said "you know the ombudsman says yes most of the time and you're not taking me seriously" they said no.

I wrote back again, last month, told them I knew full well they had no intention of considering paying out even though they knew full well they'd have to pay out if I went to the ombudsman. I told them they were trying to stall and make me run out of time to go to the ombudsman. I told them they'd caused me genuine grief and anxiety for which I'd sought medical help (true).

2 weeks later, a letter arrives with 2 cheques attached - all the premiums I ever paid plus all the extra interest I was charged!

My advice is simple - do NOT take no for an answer. Not the first time, not the second time, not the third time. Even if they say no again and again, if you know you are right, keep on at them until they accept that you are right and they were wrong!

  • Hello, hope this is posted in the right place as I'm a forum newbie.

Fantastic life changing success with Egg reclaim...thank you MSE a million times over for your hard work and advise on the website.

What were you reclaiming: PPI on a loan
    Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: £7,027 + accrued interest!!
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: It only took one letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale:
I took a substantial loan out with Egg in to clear some card debts a couple of years ago. At the time I was told that due to the value of the loan it wouldn't be agreed without taking their PPI. I agreed assuming the the advise was sound.

I only realised this was miss-selling when I was searching for Pizza Express 2 for 1 vouchers on MSE website and saw a headline about PPI Miss-selling! I felt really stupid having just believed the rep at Egg and decided to claim.

I followed the exact instructions from MSE, downloaded the first template letter. I explained the miss-selling and also advised that I was aware that Egg had been fined before by the Ombudsman.

I received a first letter from them 1 week later acknowledging receipt of my letter and then on week 7 I received a letter advising that they had credited my account the full amount plus accrued interest.

Money Saving Expert you are absolutely the best.
If you have a legitimate claim do it, do not be deterred!

hi there, with a front loaded ppi you need to go down the mis sell route, if you cancel ,and that will be your decision you only get a small portion back as a rebate and your loan will most likely increase, if you win mis sell you will get all ppi paid to date back to you plus 8% interest, and they will have to put your loan back to the position it was without the ppi, so you will be £113 better off for a start, good luck with this and keep us posted

Thanks for that that is the route i am going down.... and i will keep you informed. What you said is what i though would happen, and after this is sorted ill claim for my previous one.:rotfl: subsiquently with barclays yet again....
