I used Brunel Franklin to handle my PPI claim against the Halifax.
    Original Loan £8000
    PPI £3195
cost of PPI with interest £4593

Today Halifax cancelled this loan and issued a new loan for £6000 without insurance ( I had been paying the original loan for 2 years ). They also credited my account with £1500 compensation:beer:.
I now have to pay 25% of this compensation to Brunel, which I knew I had to do and was prepared for. Unfortunately brunel also want 25% of a £1600 figure that they say i will save over the course of the loan.
This equates to £900 including the VAT.
I think they should make this plain in their paperwork, for instance, if I had used Brunel a couple of months into the loan then I would have recieved £100 or so compensation from the halifax but would still have had to pay Brunel £900.
Do not use a company to handle youre claim!

    Well done on your success......
How annoying is that a lot of that has to be paid out...., thanks for warning others of these as well, your right they should make these issues clear in the first place. X

    Well... where do I start

I claimed about £300 about six months ago from my old Egg Credit Card with thanks to the letters and advice on this website...

The postman came today and within the mail was a letter from MBNA. In it was a cheque for £352.25 !!! I cannot thank you guys so much!! If it wasnt for this website then no-one would ever tell us how to claim for these things!

I didnt even know about the Financial Ombudsman Service until I visited this website and how powerful they really are. I claimed 233.36 on the PPC, 16.91= interest, 8%= 1.98 and Distress and Inconvenice £100.00

Thanks again guys - it has been a long process but worth it in the end. Especially because I now have spending money to go out this weekend!!

    Thanks again guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Refund for: Loan PPI
    From: Egg
    Refunded: £758

I claimed back PPI from my EGG loan that had approx. 6 months left to run. In the end my refund cleared the balance on my account!

Thanks again MSE. It's because of your forum and template letters I was successful in reclaiming.

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI on a Personal Loan
    • Who was the provider: Halifax
    • How much did you get back: 650ish
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: ???? got a response within 14 days then they looked into it & then they sent me a total amount owed.
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale: thought it was worth a stamp to see if i had any chance, i'm so glad i did as it has wiped £650ish off the rest of my loan, and made my payments smaller for the next 2 years, everyone should at least try, as i said its worth the stamp! also that total included 8% interest!! :j
