Fingers crossed CRF, we look forward to hearing the outcome of this.;)

What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £9700
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter

Just got home from a work trip to a letter from HSBC saying they admit no liability but have offered £9700.

Happy would be an understatement right now! :D

Evening everyone. Wonder if someone can give me some guidance?

Sent a letter to Egg last week regarding a credit card PPI I have with them.

Received a response from them today saying they will not uphold my claim as I applied online and that I had the opportunity to read the terms and conditions there and then. They have also sent me a copy of the screenshots from my application where it shows the PPI.

There is no indication as to whether or not this was pre-selected or I had to select it myself (to be honest I can't remember as the application was made in 2002). Sent the letter asking for a refund on the off chance as Egg had been fined for mis-selling.

Is that it for this claim then? Or is this a standard fob off letter?

Doesn't seem worth pursuing anymore to me but I thought i'd see what you guys think?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there

Unfortunately this seems to be the case for buying online, but there are ways around this, and I believe some have still be successful, however more of a difficult reclaim, but again depending on your personal reasons, there is no harm in trying.
On Martins PPI reclaiming guide page, there is some useful information, I would check that out and take it from there, but even though you have been knocked back, but have strong grounds of being mis sold, keep on at them and write back.

This information here here is as stated on the link posted.;)

    "
    Did you buy online?
If you bought your loan or credit card online, reclaiming’s more difficult as the full T&Cs are usually available there.
An exception to this is if you purchased from a lender using pre-ticked boxes, meaning you had to opt out of the insurance rather than opt in. In July 07 all lenders agreed to stop doing this but if you took out an agreement before this date check your policy for insurance.

    Thanks for your response :-).

Looks like i'll need to get Egg to confirm whether or nor I 'opted in' or if the box was pre ticked.

Don't let them tell you. They will only say it was not them that pre selected it. If you believe it was missold to you then continue your complaint. Let FOS be the judge if needs be.
