PPI on a loan, from Bank of Scotland, repaid after a letter from myself, £5000+.
Ran into some money problems a while back, and took a loan from Bank of Scotland a few years ago. (Have been with BoS for a long time, and went with them for all my loan business). At the time of taking the loan, for around the £18k mark, I was told that I wouldn't get my loan without taking PPI. None the wiser, I agreed to the figures I was given. After a few years of paying, my circumstances changed, which led to asking the bank to stop my PPI on the loan (which they did with barely a whimper).
I thought about claiming my money back, and contacted a company with a view to retaining them to do the dirty work. Then I realised the fees they were asking (35% to them, plus VAT, or 50% all in) were more than a bit steep, and I wasn't expecting too much back. My brother then put me onto this website, and I followed the procedure for claiming. I got a standard letter back within 2 weeks, explaining they have 2 months to complete their checks. After the full 2 months, I received another standard letter telling me I DID have a claim, and they would contact me regarding how much. The letter arrived after another week, and detailed the £5600 I was owed. Shocked, stunned and more than a little happy :j
Only problem is this. They took the full 2 months to process the claim, and another week or two to detail how much to pay, but they also take up to a month to transfer the cash..... from the BoS, TO the BoS.... is this unique, or are they taking the P???Fight Crime : Shoot Back.
It's the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without being seduced by it.

Lucky you did end up doing this yourself in the end then, well done.:T:T
As they all have back logs I believe the paying out process are taking some time, but if you think you have been waiting long enough, write to them to ask them when are you expected to receive your money.
Some have been waiting months from other companies, due to the large volumes of these complaints, hopefully though you will receive your money very soon good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I'm about to make a claim to HSBC about mis-sold insurance. I took a loan out in 2006 when I was 18 to buy my car. The woman was very pushy and whilst I don't want to make age an issue I feel that maybe I was forced in to it more from a 'scare' point of view and if I was going for the same loan now 3 years on I'd have a better understanding.
I have my paper work with the figures on: the interest rate, the total amount payable and the amount it would work out at each month (£17). I was told that I could cancel it anytime I wanted and I would get a percentage back of what I'd paid depending on much of the loan I had re-paid.
Fast forward 3 years and after buying a house with all the added insurance that comes with it I decided that It wasn't worth paying the insurance on the loan so called HSBC to cancel it. At first they said that I couldn't be paying £17 a month as that is far to high on a loan of £3000, to which I told them I had proof of the figures and would take them in to the branch. They then told me that they couldn't just cancel it (like the sales woman said) and would have to re-calculate the whole loan which they warned me would show on my credit rating and may affect my mortgage (which obviously I didn't want), they also told me my payments would only decrease by £4 a month due to how the loan and insurance is structured.
Hopefully the letter templates on here and the advice will help, I didn't even know it could be claimed back until a couple of weeks ago.0 -
