Can any one help me. i have taken out ppi with recats finance and a company called vertbaudet. I started this loan back in feb 2004 and did a template letter stating that i did not even remember taking this out and was probably pressured into it. They got back to me 1 week late stating that i basicly received sufficient information around the time of taking out the policy and they would not give me any thing back, however as a good will gesture they would take £38.08 off my account which adds up from the last three months of cover. Do i take this or continue with the second template letter?

You say that you started this "loan" in 2004? Do you mean it was catalogue PPI in that it was to protect your payments?

Also as this was 2004 it was before the regulation of insurance and from memory (someone please confirm) Redcats were not regulated by anyone in 2004. I know they were eventually fined http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pages/Library/Communication/PR/2006/136.shtml

but only for sales since their regulation being Jan 2005. (again someone please confirm).

I would still continue the complaint though and see what they say if you are not happy and take it from there.

Hi, I am new to the forum. I have been lurking for a while and took the plunge a few weeks ago. Requested PPI payments on an RBS loan which I paid off in 2005. Well, I was gob-smacked when less than 3 weeks later they confirmed they would be re-paying £2.3k!

I am now pursuing all loans/CC charges and am so encouraged by the stories on this forum. I wondered whether anyone has had experience reclaiming CC charges where they applied online? Has anyone successfully challenged the " you ticked th box" response?

    Many thanks!

Thanks! I was most chuffed :j

I received a letter from Monument yesterday saying that my account (CC) was to be closed and I just had to keep paying the balance as normal - so I have sent my letter requesting charges etc and will then fire one off on PPI. A few of my CCs have been arranged online so any tips on how to mitigate the response that I ticked boxes etc would be most welcome.

Unfortunately I don't have all the paperwork to be sure of how PPI was added.

Hi There you could send of £1.00 to the CC companies and ask them to send you a copy of the original agreement. They have 12 days to reply. To get all information they have on you then send a SAR letter of. You will find one on a sticky on the front of this thread. Send £10.00 off and they have 40 days to respond. This should give information on all telephone calls that you had with the companies as well.

Send all letters recorded delivery. Good Luck
