I've finally got around to posting after months of reading the forum but I wanted to say thanks to all & try motivate others with my success stories withe my wife's PPI claims to date:

Northern Rock Loan - wrote requesting PPI refund 10-Apr, received a questionnaire 06-May asking loads of questions that would obviously be used against me (i.e. "did you have PPI on other accounts") so I wrote back saying I was disappointed with their response and threatenig court. 21-May received offer of full refund £3785.85. Woo Woo!

Abbey credit card - sent letter 10-Apr, received £1126.06 08-June nothing else needed to do than one letter.

Capital One credit card - first letter sent March. First response said get lost & sent the signed agreement. Asked them to reconsider & they sent an offer of 50%. Again asked for the full amount (using template letters) and they offered full refund this month. £867.27.

Nationwide credit card - sent letter 18-Mar, received full refund 26-Mar after just one letter! £542.39.

All were my wife's accounts but I did all the letters etc - this and the credit card charges have paid off all her outstanding cards etc which has made a real difference to our everyday life re money.

This forum was a massive help in getting all the info I needed and reading stories of other's success just motivates you to get on yourself. I'd suggest anyone thinking about claiming just bites the bullet - it's an hour or two work intially and then you just wait. But getting a cheque in the post is a pretty sweet feeling!

We claimed PPI from six compaines, four have paid put in full and two are with the FOS.

    Thanks again peeps.

This is my first post and I'm pleased to say that I can add to the successes thread! After dithering about reclaiming, I got a letter from A and L saying I may have not been sold PPI in my best interests. I used the MSE template and cited 4 reasons why I thought I may have been mis sold PPI. After two letters of acknowledgement, today I have had an offer of £2350! My claim has been straightforward and hassle free, I am delighted at this outcome and want to say a big thanks to Martin and all the MSE forum members.

  • Congratulations on getting your money back. After 8 months i've had a letter from the financial ombudsman today saying that Welcome Finance have agreed they mis-sold my policy and will refund my money plus pay 200 pounds compensation for 'distress caused' by refusing my request for a refund in November last year. No idea how much I will get as the letter didn't say - think I must have to wait for Welcome to contact me direct. Anyone have a clue how to calculate refunds due??

First of all well done. Hope the amount is what you are hoping for. Take a look at this link to see how FOS calculate refunds.

I am new on here. I have already claimed £2500 in bank charges and £850 from on loan from Blackhorse. I am also hoping and waiting to hear from the FOS about the 1st loan I had with Blackhorse. Blackhorse was refusing to pay out on this loan as it was before they joined the FOS. Been with the FOS for quite a while now.
Can anyone clarify for me a point that I have been told in work. I have been told that if you make a claim against the bank that your credit history is affected. Only thinking because I was turned down today for a car loan. Suspicious!!!!

    Hello and welcome.;)

Well done on your bank charges.:T:beer:

I did not think it would affect your credit status, because what you claimed was rightfully yours.
But maybe if you post on the banking thread there may be some posters that will be able to confirm this to you.

Do you mind me asking if you have any ongoing finance?
I think if there already loans/credit cards etc that your still paying for, this may affect in how much credit your entitled to, but do not think it would affect the status, but hopefully someone will clarify.

I would try to contact experian or equifax for a credit report as well, I believe they are about £2.;)
This should confirm what is what.
